Got into a different truck and considering putting the antenna on the passenger side to limit the wear on the coax by opening and closing the door.

Any noticeable difference in doing this? Will it make reception worse?

whenever i jumped into a truck without antennas, i would use my vise-grip antenna set-up and use the passenger side mirror mount. i never noticed anything different.

My only concern with putting an antenna on the passenger side is the tree trimming I find myself doing. Even with my Wilson on the driverside, its been tweaked once from trees. I snapped one of freightliners antennas off my old Century early this year in Katy, Tx.

You obviously have never driven in the NYC area, Chicago, or Boston. :)

I do too, but sometimes have to drive over curbs or onto sidewalks. No less attention is paid, just a little finesse with the clutch too make the curb jump smooth as silk.

Even done a dirt road or too.

if your talking bumped a curve , then i have done that. the good ole curb check. **** everydriver has done that. but to actually hit something hard enough to screw up an antenna then no i haven't done that.

I have had trees hit my antenna many times on narrow roads with passing traffic. Forced to drive far right and pass antenna gets hit by branches. Never broke one, just took off a few of the rubber tops.
