Ok I have a question but here's the deal. I didn't disabled the Auto Idle Shutdown but was able to work around it and made a device to let my truck idle for as long as I want. No high RPMs, no brakes released or anything like that.
My question is: How much trouble can it cause? I know about some states not allowing Idling with fines but, what could happen if the lease company finds out about this little hack?

I forgot to mention: The reason I use it is because I want the truck to warm up a little while I do my pre-trip and before getting out my personal car in the mornings. Also, at very cold outside temperatures it doesn't take long to freeze to death while taking a long nap. Sometimes I have to wait up to 3 hrs to get released from some of my stops.

2nd if you are going to want to idle for long periods of time you need at least 1k rpm? (Not sure the number but cruise control on and accel til it stood? hard on engine when idle isn't elevated.
there also is a work around so your truck/qc won't register idling also.
3rd do you have apu? If not I have heard that having no way to idle truck especially in extreme weather is against the regulations. Heard of a few at knight who went to dot and complained and company had to remove the automatic five minute shutdown -
Well I think that's for my company to decide but when I mentioned to my supervisor he said that he could care less as long as it doesn't screw something up on the truck.

Thanks Lowa3468 I didn't know about the needed high RPMs for the engine, the very longest I have to wait once in a while is 2-3 hrs and the minimum 1/2 hr. I have tried the Cruise Control trick but still shuts off. I don't have APU since I'm home every day.

Qualcomm, yes... engine ECM, no.
I know it can be set so that the idle shutdown only operates in a certain temperature range. Even on APU equipped trucks, this is often done because of the risk of gelling at low temperatures. -
You are leasing?
Then isn't it your truck to idle? Your fuel to burn? Your expenses...
