The cheap and easy way is to keep cell phone ore two cell phones in truck in silent mode. Many companies proved cell phone tracking (aka track your kid) and it is not all, cops may ask cell phone company help to find its location by number ore IMEI. Really cheap way

This is what I'm gonna have on my truck very soon. I can create a geo-fence around the truck and when the truck breaks the geo-fence in 15 seconds I get an SMS on my cell phone. In 5 minutes I can be where the truck is located and see what's going on.

IMO, GPS tracking is the best thing. I use GPS tracker with FMS, and I know where is my truck, what is fuel milage and I can read J1708 messages (including fault messages). The only problem I have to use Baltic countries roaming SIM card becouse my truck works in different countries. If you use truck in USA any national operator is good for you.

Consider these...they are the best in their category...
Sadly, no insurance discounts (I have found yet) for any of these....

    TS-4A Air brake lock: ($329)
    https://www.securecargo.org/products/ts-4a-tractor-air-brake-lock

TS-3A TRAILER RESIDENT GLAD HAND LOCK ($289)
    https://www.securecargo.org/products/ts-3a-trailer-resident-glad-hand-lock

    TKP-10 King Pin lock: ($75-100)
    http://www.war-lok.com/Products/Tractor-Trailer/kingpin.php

Talon Tight Fuel locks: ($328 for chrome)
    http://www.fueltanklock.com/en/gas-theft.aspx

...According to reviews and the manufacturers, no one has defeated either 4 of these,
but they are the spendiest, that's for sure.
The truck stop kin pin locks can be beat with a hammer.....

True that, that if someone wants your rig bad enough - they will likely get it.
But slow them down or make them think twice...All we can do with these products is buy time.
    Thieves hate time.
