I used to take a mega dose vitamin B, 1000 mg. along with a 500 mg Calcuum/250 mg magnesium tablet. It seemed to help. I also simply ignored panic/ anxiety attacks, for years knowing that it would pass.Eventually as I got older they went away.I did have some anxiety for about a year, after an accident, worrying about the financial disaster of another accident. But now,I just don’t care anymore, The world keeps spinning. And it’s all crazy. The one thing I’ve learned, is that Anxiety is often a symptom of underlying Depression. Often overlooked, and misdiagnosed as simply anxiety. If so, proper treatment,( medication) for Depression, will make the anxiety symptoms go away. It’s very tricky to recognize, it’s like bad breath. You’re the last to know.
rachi, Just passing by, okiedokie and 1 other person Thank this. -
Then remember how fun it was to drive a tonka truck again. Enjoy.
With that said, you cannot and must refuse to pile anxiety on yourself. All youre doing is taking years off your heart, mind, spirit and so on scared of your own shadow and wearied with heavy worry of what could happen if the truck got away from you and started taking out 30 cars like a bad nightmare. (Took me years to eliminate them in my time)
That truck is your HOME. Your sanctuary filled with enforcement devices of all kinds. Its unfortunate that peace and quiet cannot be obtained without snipping some speaker wire until silence and peace reigns in that cab. You have the whole endless spaces of the best God has ever made when he built the earth around us in this Nation to enjoy.
If you cannot hold it together or even relax then get out of that big truck before you kill or hurt yourself or families plural.okiedokie and chimbotano Thank this. -
Heavy weight lifting or calisthenics
rachi and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Turn on some good music that you like and relax. I cant tell.by your statement as to whether your having anxiety because of truck driving or things that happened in your past, or both.

To a man who lives in fear every bush has a rustle that scares him.
The righteous who walks tall fears nothing in the light of day or dark of night.
Anxiety? HA. Worse case scenario, to be crude you can stop off at any cat house and hand over a bunch of dollar bills to have a female pet that away. Whatever it is.BigDog Trucker Thanks this. -
Magnesium is your answer. We have a bad problem of lack of it. Get good liquid magnesium. Don’t get junk.
chimbotano and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Another thing I would add and something I was told. You should be a little worried. Because is shows you recognize the danger of the job and understand what could go wrong.
You don't want to be the driver going down the road on snow or ice or a windy day, without a care in the world. That drivers is more dangerous
Another thing to help is. Don't let things happen faster then you can respond to them. That's how you stay in controlJust passing by, nredfor88 and x1Heavy Thank this. -
DO make choices while you can before you are forced to pick one while in trouble.
And commit. Do not waffle.
God I hope that whatever choice results in a clean miss, no damages or injury and so forth. Maybe a little tread on the pavement for 6 months as a reminder.
One thing that got me over and over is that cars, the people almost TELL YOU exactly what they are about to do, essentially 10 seconds before they actually go do it.
If for example a rusted VW Rabbit from the 80's roll slowly on your left with 4 eyeballing you very heavy in the mirror while you two are all alone on 95.... you are already setting the truck up for some evasive act against a pending Insurance scam quick stop they are fixing to do when they get just in front left of you. Hop into your lane front and stop short. And there you are no place to put it. In my case the last one was the VW rabbit near the Throgs Neck Interchange in the Cross Bronx. What I had to do to that poor FFE tractor trailer that day was really abusive. FFE has no idea. Then or now.
And there that rabbit sat when a bigger faster herd was coming up on it all 3 to 5 lanes worth. THAT was a royal mess. They buried that Rabbit. I don't know nothing back there. I had my own troubles.
In those days there were very limited sensors on the tractor for that kind of detecting.
