Always shut down at rest areas. Much cleaner, so you don’t have to worry about a pet picking up some ignorant fools chickens wings he threw onto the ground from his cab or from stepping on nails or pallet splinters from lazy drivers that sweep their trailer out right out onto the lot. Plus, there’s usually walk ways or even a small trail so you both get exercise. Be mindful of ticks after those walks obviously.
D.Tibbitt and Elroythekid Thank this. -
EDIT; And obviously, clean up after your pooch. I have a rest area I stop at and on a road behind it is a farm with a nice path. It has a gate with a sign on it so I didnt go in. One time the owner saw us and wanted to know what kind of mutt mine was, golden doodle, and saw the poop bag holder hanging from the leash. He said as long as i use it and clean up after her we can walk there anytime.Last edited: May 23, 2020

You want one of these. My dog loves rolling in dirt more than life. Can't imagine not being able to blast him with compressed air after.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

I had my dog on the road with me for 3 months straight. I'll never have a dog in the truck again. He had the runs twice and oooo boy it kept everything I had to not kill him
