    Hi guys,
While collecting underemployment, having being laid-off from the construction company I worked for (high-rise construction carpenter, local 926)
I attended what is in my opinion, one of the best CDL schools in Florida (FTI in Flagler county, 3 terrific instructors,5 trucks, and only 4 students at the time) ), an 8 week course, in which I longed over over 600 hrs of driving.
With only a few projects available in the construction industry and no new projects in sight, and 53 years of age, (high-rise construction is a young mans game) I have decided to try my hand at driving a truck.I read as much as I could on the different options and trucking companies available, finally settled on CCC trucking, out of Jacksonville FL ( 5 days out , home for the weekend) , will be going for orientation in 10 days. Have any of you worked for CC?,what is your oppinion on CCC? any advise?
I would appreciate any pertinent information.

    Thank you all in advance.

    Been around a long time.

You will drive a slow truck, and not make alot of money.

But they seem to be a solid outfit, many drivers call it home.

The local gig base out of Tampa Fl doesn't pay. They only pay hourly and its $13.00 bucks an hour but you run 12 hours shifts with 3 days off.Only good thing about it your home nightly or during the day depends what shift you work.I apply with them but they never called.Seems most local gigs these days don't pay much.:biggrin_25513:

    thank you for your reply:
They have approved my application, according to the recruiter, it is regional, 5 days out, home for the weekend, most of the companies that approved me, wanted me to be out 3 or more weeks, that is not an option for me at this time because I was recently married, and I don’t think being away for almost a month at the time, is conducive to a healthy marriage. My Plan is to do my time there and gain some experience,If in 1 year I dont like it there, I can re-examine my options.

I worked for CCC, although you're in Jax, you'll probably be dispatched out of Auburndale, that's where the regional and road operations are based out of, Jax as far as I know is Budweiser only out of the brewery. They were my first out of state job and I can't really complain, Terry McCormick is a good guy and seems to really want to take care of his drivers, there is a guy named Steve out of Auburndale though, watch yourself with him he will push you to the point of insanity and try to get you on loads that keep you out a couple of weeks at a time when you've been told you'll be home on the weekend. Stand your ground is all I can say, if you don't have the hours for the load let it be known, if they still do a lot of Budweiser then you'll be on the gravy train, it's mainly drop and hook out of Jax, Williamsburg, or Cartersville, I did some general freight loads, but 95% was beer. If you have any questions let me know, I don't want to ramble on here about topics not relevant to the questions you may have.

Hate lay to you but that 5 days out and home on weekends sounds like b.s.The recruiter will lie to make you feel better about there company plus i'm sure you will go out with a trainer for at lease 4-6 weeks. An't no money if your only going drive 5 days a week, home every weekend an't going to happen.Been in this business to long and I know that for a fact.Your going be out at lease a min.of 7 -10 days.If you live in Florida then there 100% chance your going be out a min.10 days.Next the recruiter going tell you that you will make $50,000.00 a year!:biggrin_25523:
