You're welcome! FYI I've had my eye on Conway Truckload for about a year now. I ran overnights for Freight a bunch of times with Arnold and I saw how professional and polished the company is. I know the drivers are happy and many will say it's the best OTR company out there. I've checked out many others, but I kept coming back to Conway. I'm making my move in April and I can't wait.

Realize this: CDL school is just for getting your CDL, period. You do not get "training" from any school. Training is real world driving experience from someone that is with you for 3-5 weeks, 24/7. Everyone told me this when I first started, I didn't see it, but after driving for 2 years I see the truth in it now.

If you want BETTER CDL instruction, you'd be better off going with a community college. They take longer but are more thorough than a CDL school that will take 4-5 weeks. Either way, neither of them will make any difference to your first hiring company (but it may make a difference to YOU). The hiring company will demand that you have 150 hrs behind the wheel (your CDL requirment), that's it. That's all they want to see. Doesn't matter if it was a community college or a CDL mill school.

As far as a co-sponsrd school, it's the same thing... 150 hours behind the wheel is all that counts. Get that 150 and any company will pick you up. Don't forget, trucking companies are screaming for new drivers...

Hello everyone. We are engaged, just graduating school, and looking into companies to team with. My name is Samantha- I graduate school Tuesday, and Terry just graduated today. Can anyone here tell us about Teaming at Con-Way? We have been looking at US Xpress as well. Anyone in here who has worked for both? Also we live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area so we know we will get the Lancaster Texas Terminal. Anyone else from around here? What type of runs do newbie teams typically get? Do they only do OTR or do they have regional as well? Any dedicated accounts? What trucks are the teams getting these days? What are the pros and cons to teaming at Con-Way? How is the training done? Many companies I found have the trainer in the back while the trainee is driving- that can not be safe :biggrin_2552: eek. I heard Con-Way has a boot camp- that sounds awesome. How is Con-Way for female drivers? During training will I get a female or a male? Also how is their home time? I have to be home 1x a month to get my medication. Would that be a problem? We would prefer to run as much as possible and only have enough time to run to get my script- we would prefer to have no time off at all. How hard or easy do they run us? We want many miles, but don't want to freak out as newbies and be overwhelmed. We have so many questions, but will start we these for now. Thank you in advance :-D

I have a question. I'd like to know what all happens during orientation. I've heard that some companies send you home to get a sleep apnea test if you are overweight. I just went through the DOT physical, and the doctor asked me some SA related questions, but didn't think I needed to get tested because I don't have the symptoms. Is Con-Way gonna send me home to get tested just because I'm a big fella?

21 is the minimum I believe.
MVR will play a more important role than age.

No dont think so....but in 2016 (I believe) the DOT is going to start measuring you neck size and testing would be necessary to get your DOT card

Coming out of the oilfield after 4yrs. My old co driver and I are going to get back at it again running freight. Going with Con-way team truckload. I was just curious about the runs are they mostly terminal to terminal or is it a lot of live loads and unloads. Was wondering how the pace is we like to stay loaded and busy. Any feedback would be great good or bad just honest please

Hello everyone I am getting out the army in the near future and am going to be trying to go OTR with Conway I have my cdl with doubles and triples and tankers endorsement I went to a trucking school but that was 6 years ago however my job in the army has been to drive trucks. Will Conway count my military experience? Or will I have to go to a trucking school again? thanks in advance

Best answer would come from recruiting. Give Katura a call 800 641 4748. I don't remember her extention but just ask for her by name.
