Amen, unfortunately with the low pay and high turnover rates, it is always going to attract the dregs of society.

WM, I'm sorry if I offended you with my posts. This isn't looking for a "last resort" option for work......he has worked at a college for the past 3 years (currently employed there), it might not pay great but the bankers hours and with full benefits. I have worked at the same factory for 18 years....excellent pay with benefits, 401k, 4 weeks vacation a year, etc.......
And, we run a successful equine business on the side.
What I have a strong dislike for is a system and people who can't see beyond a mistake someone made years back, or give credit where credit is due for making huge changes in their life & thought process. Then those same people scratch their heads, dumbfounded at why there are repeat offenders.
What this IS would be more accurately described as two people who have decided there is more to life than going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark, and having no idea of whether it rained or shined that day. Quite simply, we are ready for a change from the jobs we have, rather than a last ditch effort to find employment.

Most OTR trucking is at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to jobs. 70hrs a week 2-3 weeks away from home for $40,000 if your lucky, it wouldn't be a first choice for me.
But to the OP. I would say he has almost a 0% chance of getting hired anywhere with no exp. Be careful, some places will pre-hire then reject you after your finished with the school, then stick you with a $5000 - $9000 bill for school.
Good luck and stay off the meth -
I haven't exactly started my new job yet, and im not sure if theyre going to let me be "regional" or make me be "otr", but the "otr" job is basically regional, or so the boss man tells me....small company, loads go outta town, loads come into town, go home when you're in town. Hell, I like some aspects of OTR. Send me to commiefornia, nyc, i dont care. I just think i shouldnt be married to the dang job.
However, its not the worst possible job. At my local nuclear power plant, there are two containment guards. Yup, two. They work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, every week. They make around 100,000 a year, and they both drive brand new caddys. The job consists of sitting in a chair all day, and checking safety equipment in and out, and not a lot else. Easy job. This is to ensure the security of the containment building. They do not want a bunch of people with the keys.
So ok, that job is worse than OTR. They sleep in their own bed, but ....WTF? 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, forever?! -
I sure hope they work the night shift, it would be awfully hard trying to sleep when you glow in the dark

Domino, I want to congratulate you for defending what has happened in the past with your husbands record, I'm glad the main Judge Guy does hold grudges against us sinners till the cows come home, Once we have failed and then completely turned our lives around the big book states that he remembers it no more, I would go for it, Like stated check into it, see if there is someone out there that will hire him with that mark on his record, See if there are any companies that will look at him, I assume he has been clean since this has happened? There are several companies looking for teams and you two are the best for that because you are already paired up, If you don't mind me saying it that way. Give it a go, See what they say. I would just be completely honest with everyone you come in contact with, Show that you are sincere about what you want to do and go for it. If there is a truck stop close by go by and get the flyers and booklets with the ads for drivers in them, I'd start there. Good Luck. If I can help you with anything let me know. TD.
Lilbit Thanks this.
