I prefer manuals that's what was in my truck that went down several months ago but I've got a pinched nerve in my left leg and it sucks clutching anything. Even my little pickup. I'm in an automatic truck now. It's not bad, I like it in traffic, but if I didn't have a pinched nerve I'd want a manual again.
Any companies still have manual transmissions?

If I had to drive in a lot of stop and go city traffic I'm sure I'd have an automatic.
As a matter of fact, I bought a new Tundra this year and I'm learning to like the automatic. I still tend to stomp my left foot clear to the floor sometimes, though.rollin coal and bryan21384 Thank this. -
You guys dont float gears in traffic?

Yeah always float gears but you don't realize how much you use that clutch everyday running otr until you've got a pinched nerve. You'll think about it every time then. Dreading every red-light or stop sign. And at the end of the day feeling it, or morning rolling out of the bunk.

If you’re a rookie and don’t know how to shift properly then you’re not going through the gears the same way as an automatic. You’re grinding gears, not downshifting properly, and in the mountains you’re struggling to know which gear to be in and to find that gear. Automatics remove all that drama, that’s why big companies love them. If you’re not shifting properly then you won’t get the same fuel economy as an autoshift. Thats facts. It’s not even up for debate

Automatics get about 30% better fuel economy with typical drivers. Most drivers don't shift manuals properly. Never mind busted u-joints and driveshafts falling out. The pic below was right in front of a busy fuel island exit at an Atlanta Pilot. On flat ground he did that and caused one helluva cluster for everyone
