How's he supposed to access the boards without an authority?

What's going to magically change over the next 6 months that will make him "golden?"

No experience and want to lease to a carrier is a 95% setup for problems. The main one is essentially 'Profit Margins' especially in these times. There's 80% sharks in this business. A corrupted carrier with a fleet of O/o's who lease on have things setup for them not to lose but for the O/o's leased on too. Or the few selected brown nose favorite ones to win.

In a lot of if cases todays carriers operating a unscrupulous business wait for the inexperienced cdl drivers in order of elevating their profit margins. Understanding the ins and outs of the trucking business starts with understanding trucking first.

So you think he should go through all the hassle and expense to get his own numbers just to see some spot rates and/or to run power only? That's horrible advice.

So tell us what's going to make him "golden" in 6 months?

How many trucks do you own and how long have you been in business?

This comment didn't get enough attention.

I feel like this is then new business plan for these carriers. They want to make some money on the front and the back end of the deal.

The driver is as much of a revenue stream as the freight is. I feel like the big lease carriers started this first and now everyone is catching on.

Good point. A lot of these carriers have the wrong recruiters, management and Safety team dealing with onboarding O/o's. The majority have a personality disorder causing them to be condescending, belligerent on the basis of plain ignorance and never should of been in that position to begin with. Probably hired based on being a friend or relative of the Owner and needed a job and knows nothing about semi trucks or the business. As pathetic as that sounds it happens more than most would think. So many times it's been a clown show hearing some of the staff at these larger carriers, the last one I had a interview with I simple had to walk out on and begin running my own authority because it's never going to get better being leased on with a carrier. Considering the times we are in it's a extremely super High risk running the spot market. However, I'm beginning to balance out and it's working. Being in control of your business is the essential reason why most of us bcame O/o's and small carriers. Not knowing what some larger carrier owners are conducting sometimes becomes the ultimate risk regarding their methods of conducting business possibly burning bridges with good companies. Thousands of motor carriers close in first half of 2024. It's very scary and sad that 10k companies went bankrupt in 2024 alone. This speaks volumes and shows that no one is safe in this industry.

Understanding that were working in a maze and not knowing what's around the corner (meaning the next day) all we can do is have faith.!
