It's possible to get overseas experience verified and recognized. My work experience in South Africa was verified... but some companies won't recognize it, regardless. Back in '11, I hate to bite the bullet and take an OTR gig. I called Roehl, and, according to their recruiter, my experience in South Africa didn't count, nor did my previous experience here in the US, which included heavy haul, just not in an OTR capacity. They needed six months of recent OTR experience. So, six months of never running anything larger than five axles made you an experienced veteran in their eyes, but eight years of running heavy loads, B-trains, etc. on often unimproved bare earth sites and tight access roads counted for nothing. Gotta love that logic. Then I applied for a job with a small fleet owner who was leased to CRST Malone... they had no problem taking me on. So, you might have to do a bit of hunting around for the right carrier, but it's doable.
