I just got a job offer from WEL companies to join the company. They sent information about both the lease purchase program they have ( which I am not really interested in) and the information on company driver. Just looking for some knowledge from either present or former drivers if available.
Thanks
Any current drivers for WEL Companies

Never heard a complaint about miles, just alot of grumbling about zipo hometime.
Big Papaxx Thanks this. -
Go to YouTube and check John Vollrath or JBG videos.
This guy video's everyday. Seems like a nice guy and I have never seen him take a flight home ?????
He has a video with a recruiter that answers almost any question u might have and he has been with the company for years.
There is another WEL trainer that has videos also.
Seems like a good company !DriverMike1984 and Big Papaxx Thank this. -
Years ago, WEL, ( Wisconsin Express Lines) used to be a real good company. When I hauled eggs and cheese, I'd see these drivers at the dock, and most were pretty happy. I have a friend that's a dispatcher at Badger State Western, in Abbotsford, Wis. and he told me, they took on a ton of accounts from WEL, because they couldn't service them ( or did it poorly) I think BSW does the same thing as WEL, cheese out to west coast, and garbage back. Maybe try BSW. Seems like a much better place, nice trucks too, all new K-Whoppers.
Intothesunset and Big Papaxx Thank this. -
@LadyNicole worked there recently
Big Papaxx Thanks this. -
I watch JBG off and on and while he does seem genuine there isn't much on the company itself and what they are like to work for in his videos.
I suppose many of those trucking youtubers can't be totally honest...not if they don't want to anger management etc.dennisroc and Big Papaxx Thank this. -
I worked for WEL when I started 4 years ago and after trying out other outfits, I came back this week. Freight is a bit slow this time of year but they only carry refrigerated goods (well, mostly) and people always have to eat. Nobody I know has ever had to fly themselves to hometime.
They've gotten rid of all the Freightliners they used to have and have poured a bunch of money into new equipment. I currently have a 2014 Pete (they only use them and KW's) and was told it's going to be replaced by a 2016 something. I can tell you that is a allot different from my previous employers. Every unit has a diesel powered APU and there is though to changing to those horrid battery-powered units. If you want an inverter, you provide it up to 1500 watts and they will install it for you. Same with a CB
The new CEO is the oldest son of the founder; together the two of them started this company 40+ years ago and kept it running. Bruce believes in taking care of the drivers because he was one. He doesn't take million dollar bonuses every year, preferring. To put the money back into the company.
There are a lot of returning drivers like me; that should tell you something. It's a place you can stay a while or a long while.
And I got a 10 cpm pay raise over my last company when I started as an experienced driver. Give them a chance.
PS. Jeff is a friend of mine and a guy who speaks the truth. He and I were trained by the same guy who is still at the company.DriverMike1984, Mmike and Redtwin Thank this. -
I've got them on my list of companies to contact when I am ready.
