I have not driven since June of 2009 and was blown away to be turned down by Knight and Usa Truck. Both said it was due to my not driving for a year and a half. I have no tickets, accidents and Left My last job by choice. (crete)
Anyway, Celadon has me scheduled for orientation on monday Jan 17, 2011.
I am more than a bit concerned since most of the post I am reading are negative about this company. but also most of the post are dated from 2008.
I am also concerned that a driver was turned down from them for having a big neck and I guess suspected of having sleep apnea.
so, does anyone have any recent orientation feedback or current work experience with them.
Thanks
Any current Feedback on Celadon...2011

I have been working with sandra in recruiting for a week or so and she has been great. Very pleasant and courtious. She made it clear that my attending orientation on Monday or Wed would not matter either way as far as the date. It was completely up to me.
I went to reconfirm my orientation and requested Wed. Sandra was not there so I had to deal with becky or whatever her name was and she was a stone cold #####. Telling me that I should be thankful that they gave me a job and that Drivers were always lying to them about wanting to work. All I was doing was moving my orientation from mon until wed....jeez. Sandra said it was no big deal.
Man am I glad I made that phone call. She just saved me a very bad experience with a company that is known to be bad to drivers. I really had planned on joining this company until I talked to her.
I like driving but not for people like that. If the recruiting is going to be this rude, then I can't imagine how rude the dispatchers must be.
Thanks Celadon, but no thanksrocknroll nik Thanks this. -

I drive for them now. I've heard the horror stories from other drivers about teams getting put on a 3-stop local run. Teams having to repower loads other drivers couldn't do but said they could. People having their truck in the shop for several days. People sitting in Laredo for a few days.
They've been good to me. Really good. My dispatcher runs me hard. I think I did about 3000 miles last week. Seemed like every load I was doing was near or over 1000 miles. I've had the chance to do a 34-hour restart once a week so that helped. I was in Indianapolis at the terminal because my truck needed two things fixed. First my Qualcomm never had a signal. Secondly my bunk heater would shut off after an hour. I got in Friday evening. Sunday evening they called to have me bring the truck into the shop. 2 hours later I was done. Now I'm finishing up the night and will hopefully be rolling out of here tomorrow morning.
Yeah it sucked to be down for 2 days but I needed these two items fixed. They got fixed. I got a 34hr restart out of it. What's done is done, let's focus on the present now and get me rolling.
I'm shocked you had a rude recruiter. Mine was Terri and she's wonderful.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
is Ed still around there...I was trying to get on his board but Chesterman, wouldn't let me switch fleets. Also do you a driver named Eric...he goes by Bam Bam.....he was a good friend that I've lost touch with...he was on Ed's board....if he's there and you know him tell him long haired Rock n Roll Nik said Hey!!! -

I didn't have to sit around in Laredo, either. My dispatcher already had me a load going out of there when I was doing an empty trailer move from Edinburg to Brownsville. I felt bad for those other drivers at the truck stops and terminal sitting around bobtail. I did take a 10-hour break tho after I hooked up to my load and sent in my macros.
I apparently got one of the dispatchers that likes to keep his drivers busy.
