You can't go by what a posted rate is. One thing you need to understand is that everything is negotiable on a load board. Plus as was stated before the really good stuff doesn't hit the load board

They need it moved, they will pay the price. We quoted some high money on an auction ld last Fri. They choked. Plus I did some more fact finding on said unit. Not a factory dump body. After market. So instead of 12 feet on the ground it was 13 feet 6 inches. Plus bad batteries in it. Needs to be jump started every time. Nope no mechanic on site. 24 volt start system. Office called back and said upon further review, the cost will be even higher. Broker asked why.
Well when you lie or shipper lies on dims costs go up. We found a different ld. But had to play Monty Hall to get our rate not theirs. When they need it moved like now, yea they will pay. You need to have patience in my field of work. Let the fools haul it for nothing. We have a regular broker they use quite a bit. First words out of brokers mouth is. How much is this gonna cost me..
But the crew here does a great job, no claims and on time... It has taken time to prove this company can do things. Way before I came here and I had to prove myself to them..

I do better than some of them, but for owner ops it isn't entirely about the money.

You had a good year. Maybe few years. There will be bad ones to go with them or as a rule there will be.

noluck, MJ1657, passingthru69 and 2 others Thank this.

This is true but I did have to put 34k into the truck. I only ran 78k miles. Thaught the truck was gonna take a dump on me so bought a new one. Let's see how this year goes
