My family doesn't care, but there are some in my wife's family who don't like it, personally, I don't care about their opinions.

None of mine do, but this is also the best job I've ever had.

But I know what you are saying about the medical field.
It is a hard life - in many (most) ways much harder than OTR.

My ex-wife is a LPN at a nursing home.
The pay is so-so, the hours long and unpredictable, the conditions for both workers and patients often none too good.

If you and hubby are teaming you should probably be fairly happy with your choice - if you both like the life.
But if you run a pure team operation you won't see each other much, and I doubt the money will be the same.
Then again, you can control your hours to allow time with each other - to some extent, and to a hit to income.

I just got back from home time to see my little ones, but my ex wasn't off during those days so it had to be after work.
She is supposed to be off at 1430, but she never managed to get away until at least 1630.
I got to hear all about her days, every day.
If someone dies during your shift it is hours of extra paperwork, if the State is in doing inspections it means more time, and the list can go on forever.

We truckers think we have it bad with all the regulations but, believe it or not, the medical field trumps us hands down!
Not to mention the mountain of knowledge you are required to have, and keep up with from year to year.

If you guys can make it in the medical field, you'll have little problem in trucking - IF you enjoy the lifestyle.

From another... "If she really loves you ... she will be supportive, even if it means less money to spend at the mall."

    True enough.
But I suspect she is more in love with the lifestyle, and that bodes ill for Siberius.

    I'm sorry.

But, where does that leave you?
It is a difficult decision that you have to make, it seems.

Siberius, a relative of mine was in a similar situation as you, almost identical! He started his escape plan, but unfortunately died before he could execute the plan. After he died it was discovered he had secretly bought property somewhere that no one knew about.

Buy a nice place somewhere that can accomodate you and the wife, then if she balks, you can move on alone. Homes are cheap in Las Vegas; buy one in a gated community and that will be your insurance to move on with a smooth transition. You will be so far away from NJ you can't be bothered every day.

You wrote out my escape plan! :)
