Any gay friendly training companies?

I think you will probably find that every company has gay drivers. Some make it more noticeable. I guess that's what the rainbow stickers are for. Maybe discretely talk to some recruiters and see what they have to say. My only other suggestion would be to find a friend or someone who knows somebody that works for a certain company and get with them to see if they will train you.

 

Honestly, that is one tough question. I'm on the wrong team to answer, but for your best interest, it's a good one to put out there.

 

Don't ask don't tell, unless it's obvious. In all seriousness, companies can not discriminate for that, however, they can easily find another reason not to hire you. No matter what the media passes on to the gullible public, that life style is still not accepted by most Americans. Sorry partner, just being honest. All that you can do is apply and get through school. Try the big driver mills: Swift, Werner, JB Hunt, Schneider. Good Luck.

 

I haven't seen a large company yet that does not have some openly gay drivers. You should be fine.

Word of advice: Just be yourself. However, people do not want to hear about your partner or any hint of what you do in your own space. Be very cognizant of your surroundings and who is around you. By that, I mean try not to discuss personal issues around "mixed" company. While the company itself won't have a problem with you, individual drivers might...and may be looking for a reason to complain about you.

You are entering a field wherein a fair percentage of its members are very vocal about their beliefs. Just consider the source and go on about your business. Because quite honestly, most people really don't care what you do on your own time so long as it doesn't affect your job.

Well I can see his/her point. You don't want to be out with a trainer who doesn't agree with the lifestyle if they were to find out. Some people really can't handle that.

Overall I think you will find plenty of gay truckers out there. Probably even a website/forum or two.

 

no one cares what you want to put where. Its none of your employer or trainers biz.

Although i would advise you not walk around the truck stops looking, sounding and acting like Andy Dick or something. That most likely wont end well.
