Az cdl school on 10/17. If you can handle getting permit yourself they offer a 5 day 1on1 15 hour course. $1500 bucks best deal to get you're license

    Hey Coueshunter,
You are probably right with that being the best deal but for someone new to the industry like Bored Insane. I think it would be a good idea to stay with a school that has a 160 hour cdl course. I think most companies want to see at least a course that long. Just a quick thought there.

If you attend a private CDL school then apply with Groendyke Transport and make some good money; probably in the $60K range running OTR.

A good trucking company CDL school is Earl Henderson Trucking. The pay is good @ .38 cpm with a guaranteed 2100 miles a week. If you don't run the 2100 miles, you still get paid for it anyway.

Just a note, you may want to make sure whatever route you go that the company you plan on working for will accept the school you attend. I don't know how many times I've seen people spend thousands to get their license only to find out they still had to attend a mega companies driving school from beginning to end AND get stuck with the contract for the school. Make sure you are asking the right questions when you talk to these recruiters. They tend to tell you what you want to hear. Anything to get you in the door. So be very careful.

Why pay more to stand around and watch other people drive an back,? I certainly wouldn't and didn't. A 15 hour one on one course is going to give you way more seat time then a 160 hour course with 15 people...

Why pay to get a permit of you can get it yourself?

Most companies want a transcript and certificate which the 15 hour class offers

First of all, thanks everyone for advices. I understand that big carriers want graduates from approved list of schools and minimum of 160 hrs. Then they will take you for few weeks training with a veteran. At this point, I'm looking to get a CDL without 4 weeks training, if I can do that then I'll learn the 'real' training at the job.

Do you mean I-10 and I-17? do you know the name of the school?

There is ArizonaCDL.com that offers 7day course for $1500, but it seems they want students already with CDL. I called them up and the guy said it's more like a 'refresher' course.

I would greatly appreciate any contact info. about the school you mentioned. Thanks.

Thanks for your post, I agree that it'll be best to go through as much training as possible. I'd really like to skip the 4 weeks training though, if it doesn't have much 'behind the wheel' time, which is what I really need. I know Schneider, Knight, and others in the valley want to train again after school, but I rather not go with the bigger carriers. I plan on working for a smaller customer running regional and designated lanes, possibly team driving it.
