I am not a trucker in Brazil, i have a small IT business. Trucker in Brazil is a road to hell.
Speed_Drums and Rocks Thank this. -
Yeah... I know that right...
Literally road to HELL....
But IT is a good business there, isn't it? -
It was a good business. No longer is. Market is very saturated. Brazil is just good for big farmers who can buy thousands of acres and grow soy bean to export to china.
Unemployment rate here is on rooftop and keep getting worse. You know people here doesn't like to study, create business and move on. For decades people love drink and go to beach, this is a way to pull any country to the ditch. Here is Brazil, stuck in the mud.
Speed_Drums, Rocks and 06driver Thank this. -
And my so "beloved" city, Rio de Janeiro, totally controlled by organized crime, CV (Comando Vermelho), this and that... I remember once when they got upset because police killed one of theirs and they decided to shut down roads and stop buses that tried to go thru and throw ####tail molotov in them and shoot everybody that tried to escape... And people downtown were all afraid, going home early and shutting down businesses so scared of them...
I hate that place... so filthy, so full of crime and prostitution... and violence... no police that you can count on... everybody is corrupt,.. nobody helps anybody... they are all for themselves... Bunch of selfish people they are... bunch of cowards... can't count on anybody... They all lie and steal...
You are RIGHT! They don't want to work... no incentive, no nothing... just sex sex and SEX... and drugs.... it's sickening...
When I went there and needed to get my original Hight school diploma, they said it was in a trash bag... and I had to "bribe" to obtain it... when other people were waiting for years to get their records... It's a SHAME that place...
And the government is TOTALLY out of control... they do whatever they want... people are too stupid to allow it... and complacent... I could go on and on... -
Rio is a amazing place if you just look toward the beaches. I've been in copacabana, Barra years ago. Rio now is broken, former governor Cabral stolen billions from Rio state. He is the jail. Judge Sergio Moro is hunting corrupts and sending some to jail, including the former president Lula which is convicted of bribaries.
Brazil is good for vacation far way from Rio, there are some nice places like Bonito, MS, Iguacu Falls, Chapada Diamantina, Lencois Maranhao. The weather and food is great too.
Everything else in US is much better of that Brazil, including tacocabana and mexican food which i love.
After moved to brazil, i lost 20 pounds in 6 months.Speed_Drums and Rocks Thank this. -
Those are very beautiful pictures and tell briefly a very nice story of you on the road with your truck...
I LOVE the ROAD too... In Brasil, in 1981 I traveled with a boyfriend, hitchhiking with truckers... In Brasil... We spent 9 months on the road, making art-craft (earrings, bracelets, etc) and selling everywhere we could... traveled from MInas Gerais to Sao Paulo, then took Belem-Brasilia highway.. spent 15 days on the road as sometimes it would take a couple days just to travel a few miles... We were going to Manaus, but then we decided to go to Maranhao instead to wash off some of the road dust in the sea... We would sleep on open fields, construction sites, on the beaches and even on public squares... We were called "malucos de estrada"... "Road crazies"... Then we traveled the whole sea coast from Maranhao to Rio de Janeiro... and I was hit by a car and needed surgery... had to stay in my parents' home for a few months and my boyfriend left.
But later on I kept on traveling on my own... making art-craft and selling on fairs, on the beaches... touristic places... everywhere...
Always loved life on the road...
Hey... when you come back, if you buy a truck... pay with your money and then if you want to lease it to a company, do so... but don't buy a truck thru a leasing company... this is my opinion...Last edited: May 27, 2018
Speed_Drums Thanks this. -
I have a house, falling apart in north of Rio... near Cabo Frio. But it's literally falling apart... I must go there to sell it cause I have nobody to do it for me... But nobody there has money to buy either...
Yeah... the weather is very good...
And the food... OMG! The food!!! That's what I miss the most about Brasil... Cause here in America, the food is not good at all... IMO... I am vegetarian... cook in the truck cause there's no food for me out there...Everything has meat, everything is fried, there's no rice, no beans, no cooked veggies, all veggies are raw..
Americans don't know how to cook healthy delicious food.
Besides, most of the veggies taste very different from the ones in Brasil.. and the herbs don't have any taste here...I miss the Brazilian corn, not sweet... I miss the taste of Brazilian veggies.. here a lot of them taste sweet... like the carrot, the green beans, the chayote squash... the cucumber doesn't have a strong taste, and so many other things...

Federal troops have been deployed to get the roads open AND the trucks moving. basic food needed items have run out, much has spoils and milk etc has been thrown away rather than delivered because of spoilage. you are also not getting the thing that the people need to live. Iodine is one example of a basic medicine, but one we cannot do without. SO they try to substitute iodine salt etc which is not the actual Iodine that our body requires from medicine when hurt. Sp blood gas deaths and gangrene costing limbs if not also life is a major problem now.
Brazil; has managed to do one the we the USA cannot do. Strike the trucking industry to complete all stop. If this continues I expect the striking truckers to be either jailed in mass camps or killed and replacments put into the rigs and literally get brazil going again asap. It wont be too much longer before those orders go out to the deployed federal troops against the truckers.
I am not a enemy of Brazil truckers or any truckers who are not paid their fair share but trucking is more important than anythig else including military service when it comes to keeping any Nation fed, watered and able to buy needful medicines and things they need to make life better for the children.
Stop the trucks, then you have anarchy on your hands as Society itself breaks down as it did before in our Nation's history.Rocks Thanks this. -
What a such awesome adventure you had in Brazil. Time really goes by very fast.
I bought my truck back in 2007 and worked as a contractor for some carriers in Texas. I will apply to h2b visa seasonal to work in farm fields hauling corn in Iowa by the end of this year, not sure if visa will be granted.
As a option i will drive in Italy, as my italian citizenship is on the way.
I love the road, but not for entire life.
Time to rest, good to talk to you, stay safe out there, god bless you, god bless US.
Juliano.
Speed_Drums and Rocks Thank this.
