That two consecutive 1 to 5 am bs is just stupid. I remember when I would get delayed at the receiver for a day and while receiving detention pay for the delay, I shut down the day before having about 25 hours total in the sleeper. Then I would get a load that purposely had enough time to get a 34 restart. Because of the fresh hours I would get a load that ran across the whole country. Now I don't get any 34 restarts, I drive a little every day for four weeks straight.
Any hope the 34 hour rule will get repealed?

Not a chance. it's here to stay.
Regulation is not about safety or what makes sense. It's all about who paid who how much.TwinStickPeterbilt, LGarrison and platinum Thank this. -
But the rule doesnt benefit anybody? Everyone loses.

That wont be repealed for a long time they changed that rule in the name of "SAFETY". OOIDA and the ATA tried to get it changed with no luck because of Ann Ferrow. Anyway come on don't forget we are only drivers and are unable to have any intelligence
TwinStickPeterbilt Thanks this. -
There may be a slim chance that the most recent changes are repealed, though probably very slim, but I doubt the 34 hour restart will ever be repealed altogether. It would cost trucking companies a lot of money in down time for their trucks if they repealed it altogether, unless they brought back some of the pre 2003 old rules.

It won't be repealed so long as the teamsters is still around. Union guys, and guys who like to work bankers hours thinks it's a great modification to the rule. Means more "quality hometime" every week (for those who can manage to reset at home)
otherhalftw and Joetro Thank this. -
I think the repeal he wants is a return to the old 34 hour restart.
I doubt it will happen, because they did this with the thought of getting drivers a regular period of time off versus the 34 whenever it happened.
The end result is that the majority of the truck drivers are not getting a regular 34 anymore and are recapping their hours.NavigatorWife and Lux Prometheus Thank this.
