Nah, truck drivers are only responsible for 80,000 lb missles that can take out dozens of cars and even more lives.
Any hope the 34 hour rule will get repealed?

It benefits me. I get more hometime with my family. That means more to me. I hope it stays.

should have made not 11 but 12 hours. so i can get to Illinois in one day from central pa.

And the shippers and recievers know this, and can refuse to pay detention pay, as they know another company will haul the freight.
Government regulation will screw it up even more, and will cost the driver even more pay. -
If the government did not regulate things in the past, just think where you would be now.
I know this thought evokes political attitudes, but, it is not intended for that response. Just think about things like:
Overtime pay.
Workmens Comp
Work week
70 hour logging
OSHA
This is just to name a few.
Now, yes I feel the government needs to step in. There has been quite a long wait for the changes to be made. The industry has proven it will not change for the benefit of the driver.Lux Prometheus Thanks this. -
why not repeal the exemption from the overtime rule.
why not reduce the regulations, and let the market work.
Why do you want more government regulations, when you think it will benefit you, but rail against the regulations that do affect you...
Government intervention will always result in unforeseen consequences, that will be detrimental to the driver.
Instead you all want the government to step in and tell a business how they should do their job, and how long it will take, and how much they have to pay if it takes longer... -
While you are at it, think about the last time that a business did anything for an employee because they wanted and not because of the government.
