A little bit of Manual Labor never hurts. I have a similar story so to make it brief I also unload my truck and sleep at home every night. Making the same cash now as I did when I was out for 6 weeks at a time. One thing I have come to realize is the OTR driver is under paid.
Any Info about Heartland Express??

I agree. From a new driver on up. No OTR driver that is away from home for weeks at a time should make less than 50k a year. And pay should go up steady from that point as they get experience.

I am about to start with Heartland so I am reading all of the post. I know one thing I believe attitude is everything I have worked for companies where they would have to lay someone off and it was never me and when I asked why the manager said they had a bad attitude and you don't, My Grandfather taught me long ago that a good attitude will take you a long way in life so I keep a good one the drivers that are always complaining about something will always have trouble and they sit because I got there load, cause I work not complain. And thats just the way it works so to all you drivers that blame the company for your bad pay check think about how you are, and get that good attitude and I promise you things will get better.

HeartLess Express is a joke and is taking Gordon down with them.
Air Breeze Thanks this. -
Do not work for Heartland express!!!!
I mean Heartless Express.
Most of the above remarks are truth.
Don't pay tolls.
Take longer route or pay tolls urself.
No orientation pay.
Bad miles. (And i team drive)
The Heartland Terminals are like county jail in commodities and setup.
I was Gordon until they bought us.
I promise u these guys are telling the truth, it's heartless over there.Milkman719 Thanks this. -
You drivers aren't better than this? Stop looking at only the CPM because that's all they pay. No detention, slow trucks, low mileage runs, max 2 weeks vacation, garbage trucks, high health insurance, etc....
-
Have you worked for them in the past 2 years? I was told that detention after 2 hours became standard a couple years ago. But I do nolt know for sure since I left almost 3 years ago. Oh, and I never had an issue with the trucks specs after they got rid of the 9400s (which were mechanically great, but set up poorly). The prostars that had the max force were junk, but should have been fazed out a few years ago. The freightliners were nice. I just wanted to check, since old information is much worse than no information.

They are the same old Heartless, friend of mine went there against my advice,he stayed less than a month before he told them to stick it. Terminal mgr told him he would never drive again anywhere after he gets done feeling out the DAC report on him.

I went by there terminal and holy cow there is a sheet load of tractors parked. It amazes me that a company can be profitable and have that much equipment sitting. Also side note when I was driving south on hwy 29 out of Omaha there was a lot that had probably 500 tractors. I know warner is in omaha but this wasnt there terminal.
