I've already been down to the Charlotte terminal for A&R and have got a position with them if I want it, the hard part is deciding if I want it.

Just thought I would put it to the forum and see if anyone has anything to say good or bad about them.

    Thanks,

    Dave

Plastics haulers in my part of the country. They do a lot of transloading out of railcars. Decent equipment, flat top F/L and Petes. They are also tied in with BTU Contracts and do some haulage of propane and other pressurized gases, but I don't know how much of their business that part is..

Yup, Plastics and powders. More plastics than anything.

I have been doing plastics for the last year with Tidewater so I've got lots of experience with that.

I've talked with several of thier drivers b/c they tend to be everywhere that I deliver. I haven't had anyone say anything bad about the company and to be honest, THAT is what worries me. Maybe they give a nice referral bonus? Who knows.

They do have some nice trucks. The Volvo's at TWT are decent enough but seriously lacking in the muscle department.

Thanks Burky for the reply and anyone else who offers their insight,

    Dave

I have never had any of their drivers say anything bad about them, and I see and talk with them fairly often. We often use the same railyards, and since we operate the scales, we have contact when they weigh in and out. I know they have a good safety record as well, and that's always nice to know.

A guy I used to work with at Chemical Leaman went to work for them after Chemical Leaman went bust. As far as I know he is still with them unless he retired. Decent trucks, uniforms, good pay, and I can tell you from personal experience that plastic pellets is the easiest tank work you'll ever do.

I worked out of the Phila terminal, A&R is a goood company, walk in policy is true, they do their best to get you home on wknds, decent money, youll never be sitting at a truckstop waiting for a load, if need be which is the case alot of the time they will deadhead you as far as needed for a load, they will work with you to get you were you want to go etc. This job is all hands on loading mostly out of railcars to customers silos, they want you to get as close to 80,000 as possible, sometimes were you load might not have a scale so you have to find the closest one to weigh, depending on the customer, you might have to go back & load or unload back into the railcar to get your weight right. Sometimes it could take up most of your day getting loaded in a case like that. It can be a hassle at times but, what job isnt? you are being paid for all your time & overall if you dont mind working it is a good company. If you just want to drive a truck from point A to B this is not the job for you.
