Sounds justifiable. Unless you're way back in the hills Kentucky should be an easy place to work out of, but I'm not in tune with what's available there. @Chinatown is THE MAN when it comes to solid information here, give heed to what he says.

You already know how to drive; these 2 companies basically just want to teach you their procedures. You will be with a driver that's been with the company awhile and knows the company protocols with customers and paperwork, qualcom, etc. You don't need any more than that.
TransAm trucks are really nice with Apu, Flatscreen tv, and set up right for the driver.
Watkins-Shepard has a terminal in Berea and you will probably have a new or newer Volvo with automatic transmission. That Berea terminal pulls for a dedicated customer, but I don't know what they haul there; it's dry van.

Have you put serious thought into leaving your kids for weeks at a time and seeing them a couple days a month and maybe missing Christmas? Can you find a way to make it locally? It would suck to give up a local job with young kids at home. I am a local driver with 2 young kids. I make decent money but I know I could make more elsewhere but I have a semi normal schedule and am home everyday, I know my kids would rather have me home then have the extra toys and things I could buy if I made more money.

Do you live near London,KY? If so, Schneider has a dedicated account at Walmart Distribution Center there.

I live within the hiring radius but right at the 150 mile radius I really like Schneider opportunities where there such a big company only did like is that they want the truck parked at the yard in london and it's close to a 2hr drive from where I live..
