Does any one have any specific info or driver experience as a driver for United Natural Foods/ UNFI. They are also known as Albert's Organics. I was offered a position but was seriously looking at p e Kramme a food grade tanker outfit. As anyone ever heard any thing about this tanker company? I have never done tanks before but they might be willing to train me. I have got to make a decision in a few days.

Kramme is a good bunch--been around a long time has good rep in area--all I can tell ya-)never done biz w/em
Have no idea how UNFI treats their OWN drivers---But--if it is anything like how they treat outside carriers RUN AWAY FAST
    they suck!
And if the way they allow their so-called Drivers to behave in their own yard in TX--is any indication of the way they do biz---it doesn't bodes
very well since they all race around like idiots

I received an offer from UNFI but my gut is telling me to try to get on with Kramme. They were very up front with their wages and benefits. Most companies tend to gig you around on those issues. I came away with a very good impression from the conversation with the people at kramme. Anyway thank you!

I know this is an old thread but I felt I should throw in some real experience for anyone searching. I went to school with the thought that I could work for UNFI after a year at some whatever job, I got lucky and they decided to take students. I will say that they are picky with students, I am the only one who made it. They dont really advertise the student thing.
UNFI is up front with their pay, its hourly and will vary slightly form location to location. Look at their website for starting pay and the top is around $25 which is reached in 5 years $20 after one. I am home 3 nights a week the rest of the time I am in hotels. I average 50 hours the benefits are decent. I have a regular route. We do unload, sometimes with a handcart which I prefer to getting fat.
No I am not a recruiter, I don't think we have them.
I will say that I have NO experience with any other company so take this with that grain of salt. I was a carpenter, tree climber etc so to me this is easy money.

As for you guys who drop off at our warehouses. Sorry about that. I have talked to a few folks in the lot and I am glad I'm not you guys.

I know this is a old post but if any one is still interested in P E Kamme first off it's a union shop(teamsters local463) so there is a union initiation fee(200.00?) and monthly Union dues(50-55$) and it's a seniority-based-dispatch. But with that being said it's one of the few companies that pay you for all your time(mileage loaded & empty plus hourly pay and you don't eat any time)paid holidays, vacation pay& union pension(5years vested) one driver I know had 41years in and retired with a 3,100.00 a month pension, it's not a perfect company but it's one of the better ones out there
