Not gonna be easy. Look into Union LTLs. You get OT after 8/40 which makes all the difference. ABF does a version of a driver school that you should qualify for. Some others do as well. 3mo is hard to work with.

Just because you make a 1,000 doesnt make it a lot of money. Good luck in San Francisco or Alaska on 4,000 a month. Rents 2k

Some of you say that is a lie. Well I stand by what I say.

My earlier years in trucking local bulk tanking netted 670-800 a week which in those days was awesome money. The best one could hope for out of Hahn in Newmarket Maryland. But not 1000.00

In those days .20 OTR mile was the gold standard on up. But not much. .25 was considered good day's run.

If you are indeed 3 weeks or whatever just out of trucking school with a virgin CDL hardly greased up and making 1000 plus... do whatever it takes to stay with your company. You do not want to kill the golden goose over some stupid issue with dispatch.

Im not jealous or anything. In some cases I celebrate you lucky young pups. That also tells me the industry is willing to pay drivers because there is never enough of them anymore it seems. In my day you had 60 in orientation weekly ready to take your tractor if you screwed up.

Also 4.99 meals then compared to almost 20 for a proper three course meal in Petro or something these days so that 1000 dollars you are making has devalued somewhat compared to what the value of say a 5.00 bill *(A silver cert no less) feeding 4 hungry children at a fast food place in 1971.
