I'm going to lay this out for you one final time. You're only reading what you want to see. The reality is I just sold my LLC to another company. They have my old DOT and MC numbers. I can't make it any clearer to you. Sell the business and the DOT and MC numbers go with it.

Show where it says you can transfer or sell a dot number then. You haven’t done that all you showed was can you keep the same dot if you make changes. The paragraph you said to read says remains the same legal person or entity the regulations you posted doesn’t refer to selling or transferring. You didn’t sell any LLC or dot number it’s pretty easy to show information about what dot number you owned and who owns it now there is no one.So post the fmcsa regulation showing you can sell or transfer a dot number

The FMCSA stopped using old numbers a couple years ago. Yes you can sell authority, BUT you will then get a new USDOT number. This was done to keep carriers with safety issues from masking their operations using someone else's safety ratings.

The fmcsa didn’t stop using old dot numbers as you stated a couple of years ago.You we’re never allowed to transfer dot numbers to someone else.

Wrong. If you sell the a business BOTH the MC and the DOT go with it. Why is this so difficult for people to grasp?

Exactly. The DOT number is owned by the business. If you sell the business, all the assets go with it, unless otherwise stated in the contract.

Right. These people are simply misinterpreting the guidance/rule and/or parroting what they've heard somewhere else. No direct experience with it at all.
