F'n A man, 3 loads all going to the same place today. One problem, dairy intake is down and not likely to get fixed so we had to direct the milk other places, problem is it was short hauls so we had one dude working and now they're all longer hauls.

My freind picks up farms around PA in a tri-axle, his family owns a small milk hauling company around western PA and those guys make about 50k a year working 10 hours a day...they work 6 days a week most times though.
If I lost my job hauling liquid sugar and corn syrup I would probably end up working over there... -
i cut my teeth in a worn out sidewinder mack with a walker tank back in late 80's ..did it 5 years ...loved it..worked around 18-20 hours a day every other day...left out picked up 11-14 b stops unload washout pickup 2 a stops on way home...best job in the world for experience...as far as money i could have made more at burger king but i dont regret it at all...make about the same now in 14 hours that i made back then in 55-60...but i did love it...if i hit the lottery id prob buy a milk route and live happily ever after...but on a side note i havent played the lottery for prob 20 years...

Well now. I guess I am making pretty fair money. I'm starting to realize from reading these post that my company pays pretty good.

I just ran into our old milkman at a graduation party Saturday. 10 years ago this July that he sold his trucks and trailers. Misses the people but doesn't miss the hours and working on the trucks and trailers all the time.
He hauled in the days of tandem axle trucks and pulling a pup. those pups were a pain in the arse to drag around and try to back up in farm yards. He got out of it when he was going to have to buy one of those multi axle trucks. Our hauler now has a 6 axle set up. -
DFA is hiring in our area. Any thoughts on them? They hardly ever hire and I have heard that hauling milk is a good way to start building tanker experience. But wow! Seems like hauling milk pays traing wages
