I got to thinking about this here recently if there’s still any money to be made pulling for a van line? My dad was a bed bugger for 15 years into the early 2000s and was doing well but just wondering with the current rates and every LTL company seeming to have a hand in it, if there’s any money to be made like their used to be? I’ve been running my own authority contracted to a carrier out of TX pulling their trailer possibly looking for a change of pace and that’s always something I’ve wanted to try. Any bed buggers on here care to chime in? Does it really just depend on the agent you’re leased to?

It dose depend on the agen but that being said..... The money is not what it once was. The rates are mostly all inclusive with deep deep discounts. Most of us older ones have transitioned to doing spec com with the van lines.

So I take it that if you’re going in, it’s better to get into the specialized side of the industry. I’ve got some LTL experience so maybe that would be a plus. Is it still good enough to make a livable income from or pretty much just like leasing to any other big company where it’s pretty much take whatever you can get just to scrape by?
