Tank wash will do it........ just keep pump lubed so it won’t rust up tight. Wd 40 or Pam cooking spray (on the down low).

One more question for now... do they use solvents or just water to wash the tanker out? Also, can the same tanker go from food grade to chemical and back to food grade? Do most tankers haul one product or is the tanker split up to haul multiple products?

Appreciate all the help! I’ve always wondered on a lot of this stuff.

Edit: how much does a washout cost?

    Orange713 Thanks this.

No food grade to chemical crap........liability.

Yes they use solvents depends on what was hauled last in the trailer/pump......

99.8% of the shippers load you, but depending on the company depends on how often you unload yourself. I've worked for places I unloaded myself everyday. Heck, we have accounts where we have to pump out of the shippers tank into our tank.

There are smaller setups, but in my opinion, if you're going to haul tanks, you should have the equipment to do the job. That includes a compressor, product pump and in transit heat. If you install the apu on the drivers side, there should be enough room to install everything on the pass side. I don't have the setup shown above, my pump and radiator are on the pass side and my compressor is behind my stairs on the drivers side.

Pam works awesome, but it stains the pipes if left in there over a year or 2. o_O:rolleyes:
I sprayed a whole van and never ran the pump for 2 years. It spun right away, but had to get a caustic wash and power spray the Pam of the pipes.
