Hello all, I am a college student interested in eventually becoming an O/O eventually, granted I get some experience in the industry first. I am in an accounting class at the moment, and one of our assignments is to interview someone in a position we might be interested in in the future. Would any of you out there be interested in an interview over Zoom? Thanks in advance.
(If this is against the rules I apologize, I didn't see anything against it)
Any O/O's Available For a Virtual Interview?

I think Pavrom took it as hes in an accounting class that is a credit in the grand scheme of some other overall major that’s not related to trucking whatsoever.
Maybe the OP can enlighten us. I found the thread hilarious myself. I actually went from lurker in this site to member to encourage people and also learn but I guess over time one becomes jaded by all the drive by bs posts.Last edited: Nov 10, 2021

i would ask DUNE-T on here. he has a post in the sticky thread in Ask an Owner Operator about all the costs and revenue assumptions that go into O/O that is really helpful.

I agree with you. Ill add this. Working on you mechanical ability is just as beneficial. You don't have to be a 100% do it yourself mechanic. Knowing how to use a grease gun and perform basic repairs will save you money. Its a business you need to practice alot of different skill. I understand the folks that say run hard coast to coast probably won't take time to change oil on thier day off. Thats understandable. Just know we're you are spending your money and get your best value and not get ripped off.
1 truck or a small fleet, I won't fault a guy learning the actual business practices. More guys would last longer in this industry.Last edited: Nov 10, 2021

Maybe he’s interested in owning trucks and having drivers? And doesn’t understand what owner op means. As for accounting class is that just a class or your degree will be in accounting?
mid it’s a BSBA in Accounting my advice would be to move to Vegas as there’s an accountant shortage withe the Big 4 accounting firms. They are hiring like crazy. How do I know this? My wife’s graduating this year and she’s already had job offers without even applying as well as many others in her class.
If you are planning on getting your CPA certification then being an owner operator (as we know it) isn’t something you would give up that for. Just to much headaches unless you want to put drivers behind your truck. That’s a different story.shooter19802003, Bean Jr. and Rideandrepair Thank this.
