Because most of the people in the electronic forum barely know how to turn a GPS on. I wanted very specific advice from truck drivers who might have rolled with a system for a while.
If you need 10 hours of rest after sitting on your butt for 10-14 hours you should take some laps or something.
Any of you guys run with a gaming pc onboard?

Look into cases where the mobo lays parallel to the ground so the gpu is standing upright instead of pulling down. Maybe you can remove the passenger seat so it gets air flow?

I'm in the process of building a small form factor gaming machine. I will be using an S4 Mini case and an HDPlex 300 watt power supply to power the core i5 and GTX1060. I'm not worried about power as my APU has a 3000watt generator on it.

My suggestions won't matter than. -
Tiny boxes, as small as an older internal cdrom and can mount to the back of a monitor?
If so, I don't think they have any worthwhile processing power. They are mainly used as workstation computers to connect monitors to a main server somewhere else in the building that does all the processing. Basically just a tiny computer allowing remote desktop access. -
Yes kinda but the ones I looked at a year ago had nice stats. I5 and I7 Intel processors to allow people to run high end games on their TV. That is how all all desktops need to be. The days of building with a huge ATX case are over. They can make the parts a whole lot smaller.

As far as power goes the size of the PSU doesn't matter it is the power draw of the system I could use a 1800 watt PSU to run a basic desktop with saya G3258 at 53tdp using integrated graphics would expect whole system to use about 120 watts the PSU will only draw as much power as is needed... Now a higher watt PSU may peak on plugin higher then a lower watt PSU.
If you get me your specs I can get a rough estimate of how much your system will draw.
As far as your GPU being damaged if it is a rear exhaust Wich I would assume being in a mini itx form factor get some styrofoam cut it into small rectangular section to brace the GPU from jostling about don't overdo it because you don't want to insulate it.
I have been building computers as a hobby for the last 15 years -
In my time we used a laptop for GPS navigation and it was occasional we did gaming online in the truckstop booth by patching into the dailup telephone in those days. The laptop was powerful enough to game occasionally online but when you are trucking, you do not have the time to dawdle and dilly dally playing games.
Fast forward to the 34 hour reset and other oppertunities to enjoy downtime, gaming takes a certain amount and it is a nice escape but we preferred to visit downtown on our time off going to museums and sometimes a baseball game etc. Staying in real life was a way of maintaining a sense of enjoying life in reality away from computers.
I build powerful computers here at home now and then and do a great deal of gaming because it helps fill in the times between chores etc. But it has no where near the investment in hours each day online. I spend a few hours in total each day and night.
PC gaming has been amazing and as are the laptops today considering what we had with the 1.6 pentium CPU and the famous 800 meghertz copper mine dell laptop which was around 3000 dollars when it was first made. Again GPS navigation and literally the entire worlds worth of knowledge, updates on storms, DOT websites that show road conditions etc etc etc for trucking specific work use is very valuable compared to gaming.
I hope this helps.G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
I run a gaming laptop and havery had zero issues, except it took me a while to find a inverter that could handle it. I would bring a desktop into a truck. I'd be worried about vibrations, dust, and possibility of it being damaged.
