Of those 2 choices they'll choose option 3. A market turnaround will sure make em a lot less picky tho.

the last broker load I hauled, the shipper put a tracker on the load. The broker, then proceeded to require me to have a tracker on my phone as well. I refused, nobody tracks my phone. After he insisted up-and-down however, I did allow him to track my tablet. He then proceeded to also call me every 2-3 hours of the day and night, until the load was delivered just to make sure that I was still headed the right direction with it, even though they had 2 trackers on me. After I told him to go pound rocks, he left me know he will never use me to haul freight again. I told him I will never haul for him again either. Idiot.

I’ve run into it in the last two weeks also. I’m eld exempt (1987, AND a glider ) and I’ve had to send a picture of the title, cab card, and my drivers license. That six digit serial number instead of a seventeen digit VIN really messed with them.
I don’t like sending all that info in, and don’t understand why they “need” it. What are you fellows thoughts on why they’re asking for it?
As far as tracking, I use either MacroPoints or Trucker Tools, and set location access to never unless I am actively on a load.
I also make it clear to them if they call me to check on where I’m at while I’m tracking, I will shut tracking off. They can either use tracking while I’m on their load, or call me, but don’t do both.

I have assumed that it has to do with all of that DAT freight that got kidnapped not to long ago. Not stolen just held for a bigger slice of the ransom. Paint everyone with the same brush.

Remember when a handshake was your word?

I already surrendered about a year and a half ago but I still like to watch what's going on.

I don’t think anything about people wanting to track shipments will change. I personally like the ability to go to ups sight and see where my package is. I think most people and companies want to know where there shipment’s are this isn’t 1975 anymore. There’s over a million motor carriers in the US I don’t think 5 guys on a social media platform are going to change that if you can’t get used to change and make it beneficial to you.Your going to end up where the motor carriers in 1975 are out of business
