I’m thinking about applying for tmc after the first of the year. I would like some insight from the Ohio drivers especially the ones from Columbus. What kinds of loads, load pay, home time, etc. were did you have to go to pick up your truck? Were to park it? Iv been hauling flatbed for ten years local some otr for the same company but never hauled steal coil and only had to tarp 2 loads in 10 years, lucky me. I don’t mine if they make me do the 5 day orientation I just don’t want to go out with a trainer for a week. Has anyone gone in as an experience driver? If so how was it? Any info would be helpful thanks.

Experienced orientation is three days. I doubt you would have to go out with a trainer but a recruiter would be able to tell you more. With your experience I'd say no. The loads out of and into Ohio are pretty good. I know they just signed a contract with Worthington steel so maybe even dedicated is an option. Call a recruiter and find out. If you have any other questions give me a shout. I was there for a while and would recommend them to anybody.

I have learned a lot from this forum. I am glad that I joined .I only have a few questions? Were are their fuel stops ? I seen in a post a few days ago that a driver had to go out of route miles a lot just to get fuel. Then I seen in another post that they use pilot ...if that's true the driver just need to do better trip planning. Pilots are every were.
Do they match your logs with the trucks computer? Lets say your 11 hour drive time was up at 4:00 pm but got held up in traffic for one hour. If I log a hour for lunch ( log the one hour that I was held up on line one)then drive another hour is that ok ? Or if it takes you 3 hours to get loaded because the guy loading you is very slow. Can I log one hour on line four and two hours on line two? I would not say that this is cheating but just a good way to make better use of my time. If you don't mine me asking why did you leave?

Its ideally up to you on both subjects. Trip planning is up to you. They will tell you how many computer miles it is for a particular trip. This is where a GPS comes in handy. Its also good when they ask what your eta is. There should be very little reason for out of route miles with their fuel network. Its pretty extensive.

Which ever pay scale you want is also up to you. Every six months you're aloud to switch if you want. Personally I never did and stuck with percentage. I believe its the best way to make the most money even on the long trips. But I normally did loads that were 500-600 miles or shorter. I believe about 90% of the fleet does these kinds of loads because that's their main business.
If you have any other questions let me know. Oh and being in Columbus you will probably have a majority of your loads go to the northeast and back to Iowa and back. Probably a lot of Chicago and Michigan with some Indiana and Kentucky thrown in.

As for the hours part you really have to see how comfortable you FM is with that. Ideally you want to stay as legal as possible but there is the part of the regulations that say you have to get somewhere safe to park. I'm not going to get into big detail on my experience with it because they know who I am but I will say I got away with a lot. Logging on line four is usually used for loading. You only have to log a half hour but they understand not wanting to take away from you 70 so they let that slide. As for traffic I guess they wouldn't mind if its bumper to bumper and you didn't move at all. That is a good question to bring up so don't take my word for it. They are the ones that ultimately have the say.
