If you were not motivated to exercise while you were sitting at home for the past year, what makes you think you will if you go back to driving? I'm a 78 year old "Old Fart" and have retired twice and still am as busy as when I was working, I'm just doing more of the things I want to do.
Any Old Farts in here?

There's some threads on here about eating & cooking in the truck.
@Wasted Thyme is on trucking break for a few months, but if he's still monitoring this forum, can give you good advice about healthy foods on the road.
@Jenn72 and @MBAngel probably both answer some questions for you.
The crockpot idea works well for many drivers and saved tons of money on food.Last edited: Jun 26, 2021

I don’t know man, at your age I’d probably just eat whatever I wanted. No sense in eating food you don’t enjoy and being miserable at your advanced age.

As for exercise, get a folding bicycle which can be stored inside the sleeper of the truck.
This one is on Amazon for $199.00 (yellow one)
Plenty more on Walmart online shopping.

Two people might both die at 86 yrs. old, but the one that worked on staying healthy reaches 86, still being able to do the same things as when in 50's.
The one that didn't put effort into staying healthy, reaches 86 yrs. old laying in bed or sitting in a wheelchair or using a walker.
Put the focus on quality of life.Last edited: Jun 26, 2021

Welcome back Digital Mage, I'm going on 71, run hard 5 days a week, service on Sat and sometimes on Sunday.
I eat a lot of Salads and greens, I try and stay clear of the greasy food. Sometimes, maybe once a week I pop an energy drink, one of them 6 hr. outfits.
I also eat egg's for protein. Bottle of peanut butter in the truck and take a couple spoonfulls of that. And I also take a teaspoon of honey, the real stuff every day. Works for me and I'm usually not hungry..
Yeah, put er into the wind and don't look back. After a week to climatize you be outrunning the young lads.NavigatorWife, Dennixx and Chinatown Thank this. -
I eat mostly from Mexican food trucks and preferably enchiladas, tacos or burritos from the trunk of a ‘74 Buick in the back of a dusty parking lot by a old fat Mexican woman. Covid wouldn’t dare enter my system, between the hot peppers and all the chemicals and military grade vaccinations I have had it dies on contact!
Haven’t worn a silly mask yet and if I need to I have a full face respirator in the cab.

Based on your ridiculous post, I must suggest the first thing you will need is the proper work out attire.
And always watch your back in the truck stops while working out. Those sickly rednecks Will sneak up on ya. But don’t worry, they are just there to spread disease while looking for meth and cigarettes. But have no fear. If you flash your vax card at them, the powers within are a natural deterrent and they will scurry away.Crude Truckin', Brettj3876, Artax and 13 others Thank this. -

As an older person, I've found the same thing... eating a little too much puts on pounds. I keep fruit and Salads in the fridge in my truck. You can walk around your truck a few times. I thought it was 30 times around a 53 foot trailer is a mile. Lots of rest areas have room to go for a walk. I've seen drivers break out a mat and do push-ups next to their truck or in a grassy area in the morning. You can use arm weights in the truck, ot rubber band type exercisers that attach to your seat. My truck has an upper bunk at a good hight for chin ups. You can do sit ups on the floor of your truck. Leg lifts on the commercials as you drive. Park farther away from the truck stop and walk there and back a few times. Some ppl even have gym memberships with countrywide chains, and they park nearby for their night breaks and go. There are lots of online workout programs for cardio these days on YouTube. There's even yoga and Tai chi on virtual reality headsets if you're computer friendly at all.
Age is a number. If you can pass the dot exam, you could be better off than a lot of ppl who post here, and I for one would welcome you back to the fold!
Ty @Chinatown for the tag.NavigatorWife, John E. and Chinatown Thank this.
