i have a autocar with a 7 37(i believe) ratio and a 8LL gearbox......MAN THE TRUCK IS SLOW..........i use it completely in a quarry the only time it goes on the road is when it's heading to the garage........its so slow that the backhoe or grader can almost keep up with it........the fastest ive ever driven it is 43mph and at that point it sounds as if youre murdering the engine(NT 444 cummins).........its an absolute fuel hog.......but then again it works 10hrs a day in dust and heat :)

4:11's haulin' heavy (140k) seems to work good. I used that setup with 22.5s for years, it's not the best in every situation but it's not the worst either. It allows you to do a little of everything, onroad/offroad uphill and down. I managed up to 13% grades at 140,000 lb gross with it although you need to be real careful at anything over a 6% grade.

    Baack Thanks this.

have 4.33 coupled to an 18 double over. on 22.5 tall rubber it gives 62mph at 1650 rpm.

We use these ratios to haul up to 90 tonnes out here in AU.

once over these weights, depending on where ( terrain ) then the ratios start to dip.

The truck hauls anything from an emtpy flatbed up to 55,000 lbs gross of concrete blocks.

No it has 3 low holes. You split low and 1st like an 18 than straight shift like a 8. Shift low low, split to low, shift to 1st and split to 1st low, split to first high, than 2,3,4, range shift, 5,6,7,8. 3/8=11. It has a super low 26.08 for concrete mixers to "crawl" with the slip form curb machine at a snails pace. Litteraly.

    14.40 is an 18 speed. A15 over is 13.31, a 15 direct is 16.94. 13s are 12.31. 10s are 11.06 (rtlo) 12.69 (fro up to 1650) 12.94(1750, 1850).
