    well i made it to Kansas city on saturday, made it to springfield today. in the meantime saw some friends. today got here round 1, went to lamberts, outdoor world, then walked from motel to missouri state u. orientation is tomorrow morning. already filled out 100? pages of paperwork

    This is a high turn over industry. A good portion of that 100 most likely won't make it to Friday

    Many come with drug issues, incomplete resumes, missing paperwork, that kind of thing. And many won't pass the medical check for a variety of reasons (which is why I am working on my own in advance of January, my own "available" date) and some will just not show up.

    And that's just the first few days.

    ...and that's before the attrition of those who can't do the job for various reasons start.

    There is a huge loss of new drivers in their first year industry wide. This is a very tough job - as it is said in some signature lines on the forum, "Trucking IS NOT for Sissys." That's not to say that folks aren't tough, but its difficult being away from home.

    You see it the other way too. Remember... reefer guys are 24/7 all weather. We don't knock off at 1600 because we're not afraid to go truckin' in the dark!
