"OK, Steady, let me see if I understand what you wrote: You're taking your CDL permit test in Texas and will be taking your CDL test in Missouri with a Texas CDL permit, correct? Missouri accepts your Texas CDL as valid while on Missouri's roadways in training, right? Anyone in similar situations can answer, too."

I was told by the recruiter to go ahead and get my permit in Texas. I had the same concern also so I called Texas DPS office and they said allot of students do that and it would be okay to have a Texas permit and to train out of state.

Will do, I'll post tonight what I find out. I think all they will tell me is if I pass or fail but I'll let you know what sections and how many questions are in each.

I'm scheduled to be there on the 17th. Coming from NC. Been in the aviation industry for a couple of decades, after company buyout decided to change careers since job would entail moving family to another state. Just not possible. Looking forward to learning a new skill and starting my second career.

Great info. Thanks! I hate taking tests, so I might just plan on doing that and not fussing with Michigan's test unless I go to work for Swift who has a training facility in the state. :)

got my cdl permit today went down ma. dmv today. Were some weird questions on it don't remember seeing in book.Had to do process of elimination. On the general knowledge section. Air brakes and combination was straight forward though. Only problem with bringing vehicle from ma. is logistics of getting back home.

had question on cpap to recruiter I haven't used it for while so I need 30 days use before i can start for training so I'll probaly leave 10/29 an start 11/02 kinda sucks but also gives me a little wiggle room to get some things done.

Im scheduled to be there on the 18th I believe. Im heading from the burbs of Chicago. Planning on driving, as long as my 94 Cav will survive that long.

I am totally new to driving, I plan on going and testing for my permit tomorrow. Been studying like crazy for a few weeks. Ive been in the fast food industry for the past 17 years, so I know horrible food.

Very nervous about shifting gears, since I have never driven a stick shift before. Plus backing up is going to be hell, or at least entertaining for the rest of you watching me attempt
