I've moved out of the area last summer, not up on what's going on around there now. I'm leased to Mercer and over the years developed enough relationships that I ran mostly local for the last five years, some overnights but usually home at night. The area can be tricky, plenty of freight, and also plenty of people tripping over each other to offer to haul it cheaper and cheaper. It is a ridiculously cutthroat market.

Can you elaborate on being a cutthroat market. I joined a free load board to see what’s out there. Seems like you can make a pretty good income running local / regional running out of PA and even south Jersey dead heading not too many miles.

I suppose it depends on how much you expect to be paid for a load, considering the number of miles traveled and how long the entire load takes, deadhead, loading, traveling, unloading.
