I didn't flunk out of school, I got my licence. The time off, after finishing the 2 truck schools, really hurt.
Any other similar experiences starting out like I've had in 2014? This has been hell

You have been straight up and honest with us...now it is time to be honest with yourself. -
On a consistent basis, that's true, but isn't it possible, that it just takes some people longer than others. I can't do it, without a real struggle, consistently, in tight quarters (consistently being the key word). I can't be the only one with this issue. To say I need miles of open space and can only do straight backs, isn't accurate either. Isn't there anyone, else, who took a long time to really master the backing?
That is why, I am really finding it hard to swallow, that the TM never told me that the box truck difference, was only 40-45 dollars a month, those, while not that easy to back, are a clearly easier than backing a tractor trailer combo.Last edited: Oct 17, 2014

Sorry, but I have to disagree with some that say your not cut out for this, but I do agree you need to stick it out with one company. I am the same way a little, I am more of a visual person when it comes to learning something new it takes me longer but once I have it, well it sticks with me. As far as backing, my last mentor I had was horrible at backing and he has been doing it for seven years, I do not care what company tries to rush you, it is your CDL so you better get out and look also ALWAYS make sure trailer is coupled. Backing takes time to learn no matter what anybody says, the simple fact about trucking is you have some that like to think they know if you will or will not make it. My father has been a truck driver for 33 years and was once told he was not cut out for it, simple fact is we all learn differently. I am not bashing anyone's opinions, I just happen to have a different one.

I want to stick it out with one company for at least 1 year, but ####, I need to find one that's patient, says they really believe in safety and really mean it and one that doesn't pay me 1 week late, like the 2nd one I worked for did this year.
And of course, do all I can to learn and correct my mistakes. I'm very ashamed of the high hook, especially, since with the 3rd company (the one that had the unsafe procedure) they MANDATED that you stop when the plate is at the 5th wheel and get out to make sure you have the clearance.
I didn't see anyone do that at Reddaway. -
They are out there to make money. Not to hold your hand. I'm not being mean, but that's the way it is.

They hired you to drive a truck !!!
They did not take you to raise !
You either you can do the job or you can't plain and simple .
This is a grown up job we don't have time to hold hands and keep showing you the same simple thing over and over .
If you want someone to coddle you and tell you are special then go back to your momma's house .
My god people at least act like you are grown up !!!
All the whining and crying because they don't hold your hand and kiss your little tushy is just crazy .
The common problem with all the different jobs you have bailed on and got canned from is YOU !!!
The problem is not the training or the time between your failures it is YOU !! MY god man up and just admit it you cant do the job !!!
It is no big deal there a million things I could never do and I know it so I don't go try and keep failing and blame everyone and thing but me !!!
I know I am a complete jerk and I don't understand and I can't be right and I am just a old ahole but facts is facts !!!joseph1135, Numb and tinytim Thank this. -
