well of course they don't if its a company driver. they make % but not of FSC, tarp fees, stop off fees, toll fees etc. The shipper pays TMC a lot more then what the company driver sees. But, thats legitimate, why should company driver get paid for fuel when he's not paying for it.

I just hear the way things work on say...Mercers side, and it seems much more beneficial to the owner operator. 75% of 4000 is $3000. Plus tarping, fsc and all that, but minus fuel, payment, and insurance too. That's not a ton of money. Unless I'm missing something and read it wrong? On specialized I was able to put $3500-$4500 easily. I mean, it was 30% compared to 75, but I didn't have the payments either. But I could also be way off with your numbers.

at 4500 you made 1350 for the week. As an O/O I make 3285 for that week. FSC and fuel cost is a roughly awash if you get 6 mpg or higher at tmc. You can make a few cents on fsc if your careful. All fees aside from maint cost me 200 bucks.(insure, qualcome etc) so im down to 3085-maintance. If i spend 20k a year on main its 400 bucks (assuming 50 work weeks) Im down to 2685. If i had a truck payment it would be 6 or 700 bucks. Im down to 1985 after all expenses/week. So, if you made 4500 tot he truck for a week as a company driver for tmc you would make 645 more as an O/O. You would also own a brand new truck after 5 years.

Not a bad gig. Now, i don't get 4500 line haul every week, but in any case, the money i keep is way more. Now with mercer, the numbers are similar but i need to pay for a trailer and only get 2% higher pay. Mercer isnt a bad option and i may end up there, but for now im happy at tmc. the barrior to entry is less as well since i dont need to buy a trailer right off the bat.

I'll give you that. I like the feeling of "mine." Also, with other outfits you can haul step and all that good stuff. Tmc is mainly flat for O/O. Wish they did rgn, but oh well! I'll probably be moving along once I'm back.

Don't quote out of context. I was referring to the standards of getting the 3% bonus. Almost everyone gets the 3% bonus as an O/O. Not the standards of me or the company. Get a life and stop following me around especially in threads that you know nothing about.

Im all for fuel economy. With step you cant have Xone Line energy T tires. You cant have a full lift axle, you dont have room for a spare tire carrier (for SS). You have to bend down to far to tarp. I dont see the advantage. You can haul taller loads, but you cant haul anything dock loaded. I haul quite a bit of dock loaded freight. Long freight like i beams is more of a PITA. I dont see the main advantage of step. Now RGN is a whole different story for different freght.

Yep that is all I only go no more than 120 miles one way and get 500 per load sometimes I have a load coming back that is 1,000 on 240 miles but I seldom have a load back then again sometimes I am hauling both ways a week at a time. Keeps me better much happy and that is all I care about!
