How long do you typically stay out with a trainer if you are just coming out of CDL school?

That depends on you! If you have a handle on progressive shifting, squaring your corners, the seven steps and your trainer see's you have it down you could be done in a week or so. Then again if you dont show progression you could be on your way home on a gray dog!

Minimum of 8 days. Usually 10-13 days.

I live 263 miles from Ellenwood, Georgia. Can anyone tell me if I can take my truck and trailer home? I will be working 7/4-7/3 flatbed...

Home time fleets are slip seat, and I do believe 7/4-7/3 is 3 drivers sharing two trucks.

if you are assigned home time fleet, you cannot take the truck home. I live 120 miles from Bensalem Pennsylvania. This is my third trip out, and its going pretty well.

Direct from the roehl handbook, if you live within 50 miles of a Roehl transport facility, you must leave your vehicle at that facility when you go home.

Speaking of the trucks, what are the dry van tractors like? Stand-up sleepers? How does one carry their spouse with only the one bunk? Recruiting said we would need to be "creative". At my age, sleeping is more important than creativity! :biggrin_25519:

My wife lived on the truck with me a few times for several months. We had no trouble sleeping together in the dorm sized bunk. But if you can't handle that much closeness, then this could be a problem.

The reason I left Roehl the first time was to get a condo truck. Then my wife never even slept in the upper bunk. We just used the extra space for storage bins.
