what about weapons? can we have knives or tazers on board?

 

No legally defined weapons of any kind. All you really need is a nice crowbar. I keep mine sitting on the floor next to my drivers seat and I've never had to use it for protection.

You'll actually find that most customers don't allow any weapons on the property, even in your truck, and they can search your truck when your on their property.

In this day of cell phones, that really is all the weapon you need.

 

Not sure bout tasers, but small knives are ok. I carried one in my tools. I had a buddy going to Canada that was detained for having a assisted opening knife. So check with the customs as well as dispatch.

 

I wonder if a crowbar with grip tape is considered a weapon?

 

Maglites work very well as a weapon, there are reasons cops carry them. The bulb end works well as a grip and the wieght of the batteries help put a hurtin' on the target.

 

I would like to carry a weapon...but you can't especially if you go to canada...its okay...I have a nice ballpeen hammer...and a multitool plus a pocket knife...if someone wants my truck that bad I will grab my phone and toss them the keys.....its not worth my life...

 

very true. just give them your truck. your life is more important.

 

Unfortunately I think the take no prisoners mentality is more common. And I doubt youd get the option to keep your phone if you could ID the guy...

 

another question. i know i have to get my passport. how long do i have to get it? btw i start my training this Sunday
