Thanks guys...I'm heading to Appleton on Aug 20th to start Phase 1. Nice to hear it's a good place for training. The Comfort Inn looks nice...pool and hot tub!

I too am giving Roehl a close look for an employment option. I start my cdl schooling the 13th at SAGE locally. My records are squeaky clean! My only concern would be that I have been unemployed for close to a year now. Mostly due to my indecision .... but after leaving the newspaper industry after 10 years I really did not want to just jump into something without research and thought. Sooooo after a couple of false starts, here I am almost a year later. My wife and I are set up financially, which enabled me to be a little less anxious/desperate. But I am definitely ready to get to work. I truly believe trucking is the right choice!
Do you all think this down period will be an issue with Roehl? I have not yet spoken to any recruiters. -

Is it true that they are not hiring people living in California?

When I hired on, five years ago, I had been a stay-at-home daddy for 5 years, I needed 3 people that I wasn't related to, to sign an affidavit saying they'd known me all five of those years.acouplyr Thanks this.

Has it been 1 yr since you aquird your CDL or 1 yrs since you last worked? If just not working they may ask for documentation of what you have been doing,,,no big deal and good luck to youacouplyr Thanks this.

That gives me a great idea, but then I'd be home with 5 kids. Nevermind, my wife is superwoman.

No I haven't got my CDL yet. Next week I start school. Yeah I will get some documents signed just in case I need them ....thank you!

Thats great to know. I am sure that there are alot of people that have certain reasons for being unemployed for extended periods of time. It would be a shame for a company to overlook prospects because of it.

Georgia has what is called the WIA program. It is a grant that will pay for your school and 9.00 a day for gas. It will also cover your CDL testing fees and your physical. You can qualify for this very easily if you are on unemployment or food stamps. I start school at KATLAW driving school on Monday 8-13-12. I have a pre-qualify from Roehl and hope to start training with them shortly there after.
