    OH! And one more thing.....
THE TRUCKS ARE GREAT!!! If you like shifting- well, you CAN SHIFT (without having to wear out your knee with a clutch which is awesome) OR you can just drive it Automatic if that suits you better. Just icing on the cake In My Opinion.....

From instructors at school and from the forum here, Maverick sounds like a good company to consider..

How much can one expect to earn after training if dedicated to the road and looking to come home only 3 or 4 days a month ?

    thanks

Since I am brand new, I will defer this question to the more experienced guys on here....
But what the recruiters tell you is in fact what my job offer said, and all Maverick drivers should attest to that. If you want to be out longer than most Flatbed drivers, then you should discuss the LNG flatbed division with the recruiters- or possibly the TCD Temperature Controlled Division, as they are out longer typically from what I understand.

If you want to go flatbed, ask for LNG, (Long Haul Division). They stay out 2 weeks at a time. If you want to drive a freightbox, TCD (Temperature Control Division). Even if you are flatbed and dont necessarily want to come home on the weekend, on sometime Sunday, no later than Tuesday, send a message to your fleet manager on the qualcom that you're willing to stay out over the weekend. Come Thursday of the week, the csrs (customer service representatives) are looking for loads that get a driver to or through the house. As far as how much you are going to earn, Jim the Hut in here just found and posted the information from his paystub for his first year im pretty sure.

A drivers starting per mile pay depends on his previous OTR experience. If you ask a recruiter, they will give you the breakdown on starting pay and incremental pay raises or someone that has just finished with orientation/ trainer truck would be able to give you the breakdown as well. I always ask my students that are str8 out of cdl school because over the past couple of years, the incremental pay raises have changed. I may be wrong but someone i'm sure will correct me but a driver on the flatbed division, no OTR experience starts out at .36 per mile then after 90 days gets .39 per mile then at 6 mos gets 41 cents a mile. AGAIN i say ask a recruiter or someone that has just fisnished orientation for the latest correct figures.

ok i am confused if you have a auto shift and you can slide the switch to manual how do you shift without a clutch pedal or do you have on and not use it in the automatic shift mode

If you choose to shift manually, you do so by simply "paddling" the shift paddle that is located right up underneath the steering wheel. No clutch pedal in the truck, it handles that for you. Very, very nice!
