hire date at maverick is 120607, have been instructor at Maverick for 2.5 years now, at the time i was asked to be an instructor at Maverick, they required 2 years exp with Maverick, To be a trainer it's not that hard. It is now down to one year, "four seasons" of exp with Maverick and not that hard to qualify for the rest: do your job (on time dels and pus) MPG at or above company goal, no safety points. Yes company driver, Mav IC are the owner operators/ lease purchase operators and do not train company drivers. Doing any job well goes a long way at any job persuading supervisors to allow you to teach other employees to do the same. Its the most frustratingly rewarding experience I've ever had is how i describe my position as a Driver Trainer. My opinion is alot of it is up to the student. I will not quit on anyone that doesn't quit on themselves. If they want to learn, they will. Driving a truck is not for everyone and i'll never try to convince someone to do something that they do not want to do. If they are honest with themselves and with me and let me know that it is not for them and want to go back to a terminal to go home, arrangements are made to do so. If they want to learn the right way to do things according to maverick and be successfull here, I'm more than happy to teach them to do so.

If i can figure out how to put pics in here, this post will be caution when your pro number ends in 666 and G.O.A.L. 0726121919.jpg downsize951.jpg downsize.jpg downsize952.jpg downsize953.jpg 0726122044.jpg photos showing damage to passenger side antennae, my hand next to hole behind passenger side door handle and dent scratch is what happened when a driver does not get out and look when blindsiding a 45' tarpable dumpgate trailer in between two parked trucks. The two other photos that look like slight scratches are from shopping carts being blown across a parking lot during a massive thunderstorm thursday, duct tape band aid with graffitti....???68 mph tape over large hole. Driver that backed into the truck did give me his and his company's information and an accident macro was completed and signed the exoneration card. Shopping carts were retrieved after the thunderstorm passed by flea market employees. Pro number for the load that was delivered thursday was 27?666. coincidence???perhaps.

While i was taking photos of the damage to the truck caused by the driver blindsiding into it i did find 3 pennies face up. lol

    Just a couple questions.

First of all, thank you for all the information you have given in regards to Maverick.

I'm currently giving a lot of thought into applying to Maverick. Needing some input, I have my CDL, right after I received it I got lucky and got a job driving a roll-off for a recycling company, pay isn't the greatest, if it wasn't for the OT it wouldn't be worth staying but as it stands now, I get ~55-60 hours per week. I'm not getting rich but I'm able to provide for my family. One of the pro's to this job is that I am home every night to spend with my wife and 2 babies ( 19 months and 1 month old). With that being said, am I crazy for wanting to leave this job and go to Maverick? My wife is indifferent, she pretty much says "do what you want", she is a great support and will back me 100% with whatever decision I make Lately I've just really wanted to get back in to driving "big trucks". My big thing is being gone from my children. Just wanted some input from someone who maybe in the same position in regards to children. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Worst part about otr with any company is being away from the family. My daughter's only 3 and you have two children so the choice is yours. They grow up quickly and Maverick does try to get you home on the weekends but if you have a job now and have no problem paying your bills, stay where you are til they at least start school. I've missed alot, 1st steps, 1st words, etc etc etc that were relayed via text messages, photos, videos but the big trucks will always be there for when they(the children) get a little bigger. Alot of drivers have to work 6 mos to a year otr to get what you already have, a good paying driving job that gets you home every night. The choice is yours

Great thread!!! I too am a newbie and the Maverick threads on here have me very interested in maverick. I now have to decide if I'm ready to do flatbed. Other than that I would be in LR personally handing them my application.

Thank you guys for a very helpful thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
