The post you replied to was some troll that never did care to share his employer with all the readers. Thank you for the compliment. short, straight to the point. When you come to Maverick, you'll understand what im about to type. Sometimes you just gotta go straight up Curt V on people. In other words, tell it like it is, if they don't want to hear it, then they shouldn't have asked or done whatever they did to make you say something in the first place. lol. "firm but fair" is a phrase I used to hear a lot. some may call it nit picking, I call it efficiency improvement. Teach them to be successful from the get go. Again, thank you sir

I owe quite a bit of my success thus far with Maverick to Sarge. He is the real deal. There is a reason he is the posterboy for Maverick.

Anyone who can answer these questions,

Have a few questions that I can't find the answers too on Mavericks website or on this thread. Maybe I over looked them? I'm going to be in the flatbed division, hopefully.

Are you paid for ALL miles you run loaded or empty and is it the same pay for both?
    How much is tarp pay?
Does per diem pay for 5 days or 7 days per week? Is it $59.00 per day?
I get my CDL on this Saturday May 18th, will it be awhile before I go to orientation or is the process pretty quick? Courtney is suppose to call me on May 20th.
Realistically, can I expect to make at least $700 per week bring home, even just starting out?

Thanks everyone, be safe out there.

Are you paid for ALL miles you run loaded or empty and is it the same pay for both? You are paid for Loaded AND empty miles the same rate. Maverick uses the zip code to zip code method for determining miles, I forget that method's official name.
How much is tarp pay? If you are in one of the OTR Flatbed divisions (RAT/US/Long-haul) then tarp pay is $25 per tarp job.
Does per diem pay for 5 days or 7 days per week? Is it $59.00 per day? Weekly, and I think its that $59 figure you mention, basically it helps reduce your TAXABLE income, which is always a good thing. Unless you are some bleeding-heart liberal and think....ahh, nevermind....
I get my CDL on this Saturday May 18th, will it be awhile before I go to orientation or is the process pretty quick? Courtney is suppose to call me on May 20th. Just focus on getting the CDL first. Priority number one. Then, once you have the license, complete any outstanding requests for information that recruiting dept has for you as fast as possible. The wait for flatbed recruits is typically not as long as it is for TCD and Glass. This is because there are just a lot more trainers available in the flatbed divisions. I had to wait just over one week. I was probably one of the lucky ones though. I have heard of a lot longer waiting periods to get into orientation. Remember!! THERE IS A REASON WHY IT TAKES AWHILE TO GET YOUR INVITATION TO NLR. It is because Maverick is awesome, and there is a huge line to get in the door. If you get an invitation to go to NLR for orientation, you best make it count. I would say 1-2 weeks could be a realistic wait period for you if you have no issues with background checks and help recruiting get you thru their "filter" as soon as possible.
Realistically, can I expect to make at least $700 per week bring home, even just starting out? YES. HOWEVER, probably after like your 3rd week. It will kick your butt the first couple of weeks and will take you that long for it to really start to get to that point where "you GET IT." But yes, you should have no problem making good paychecks even as a beginner.

Thanks Jxu! Can't wait to get my invitation to NLR. Need to provide for the family better and Maverick seems like they can do that.

No problem. I made over $45,000 in my rookie year- most of it on a dedicated account. I basically had TWO starting off phases like what I mentioned before in the other post. The first one in the RAT division, took me a week or two to adapt to it...and then, I got asked to do the PLD, and had to go thru another couple week period of getting used to how it worked before I started cranking it. My advice for you once you get all the way thru to your own truck: 1. Shift Manually for better mpgs 2. Maintain a consistant cruising speed of around 58-60mph 3. Work extremely hard and show your FM that you are willing to be their best driver even as a rookie 4. Always jump at the chance to help another Maverick- or even another company's driver 5. Take very good care of yourself and your health . Good luck

You owe me nothing but a bottle of aspirin for the headaches from that "music" you chose to play. lol. seriously though, the real thanks goes to the students like you who take the tools they are given during orientation, the owners manual for those tools that are poured over for a minimum of 21 days with an instructor and build a successful career using them. I'm just a guy who loves the company I work for, and like teaching or trying to teach students to be as profitable as possible for both the company and for themselves. My 1st student called me earlier this week. He left Maverick after 6 mos for a job closer to home but unbeknownst to me had been working his way through school to be an accountant. I think he graduated today as a matter of fact. Can't remember which thread the ? was asked why I like doing what I do........there ya go. :biggrin_25525:

    Sarge.
I know you must be sick of hearing it, but thanks again for all the info you have posted. I start school next week and Maverick is one of the companies the recuiter gave me a flyer on as they offer tuition rembursment. I hauled steel for about 1 years and enjoyed it so I am really considering flatbed hauling. So is tarping difficult to learn? Did it for the tadem axle straight truck, but that was easy.

http://www.maverickusa.com/driving-jobs You sound like a good, qualified candidate. Give Mason in Recruiting Dept. a call. I promise you that he will steer you straight. He was my recruiter, and does a very good job. Good honest dude. If you do end up going to NLR for orientation and Load securement training, you will be highly impressed with the company. Good luck!
