Nuthin to it once you get the hang of it. Just try to stay out of the strong winds while tarping LOL. It really is no big deal to tarp a load, and at Maverick you get paid well to do it- and do it well. Many of us actually ENJOY tarping and always try to make the next one better than the last one.
Drac1985 Thanks this. -
Thanks Bro. When I hauled steel I had to tarp my load many times, but that was on a little bitty tandem axle and I was a lot younger..LOL.. Lemme get the basic driving down and then I will def look into Maverick.

Yqw. Tarping no matter what the product is done exactly the same, just different. lol. No its not difficult to learn. Here's the system I use simplified (dumbed down as some may say). 1. Secure the product. 2. Center the tarp over the load. 3. tack down all corners. 4. pull out enough tarp to make your "walls" (sometimes the tarp may come unfolded on the sides already). 5. hang bungees from all d-rings just above the rubrail on both sides. 6. When your hanging bungees on the 2nd wall tack down 3 or 4 of them spaced out (so when you get to the other side and start securing every bungee, you don't pull the tarp off center). 7. Finish one wall. 8. finish the other wall. 9. close the rear. 10. close the front. 11. walk around the entire trailer with a few bungees looking for any loose areas you may want to put a bungee on while at the same time making sure a. your bar is in your box. b. your dunnage strap is secure. c. your tarp boxes top and bottom are closed. d. your side boxes on your tractor are closed. Roll on...............................EASY PEASY!!!Drac1985 Thanks this.

When tarping in the wind, turn your truck (if possible) broadside to the Even more fun and dangerous when you hang the bungees so they are trying to hit you in the eye while the tarp is blowing in the breeze. loljxu417 Thanks this.

Sorry Sarge! I may be infringing on your thread a little lately, answering the questions before you have a chance to. Sometimes I can't help myself, I want these guys to get their answers as fast as possible- and I know that some of you guys can't/don't/won't post until the weekends.

You are now on "Double Secret Probation"

Hey Sarge, I am starting Truck Driving Training in June and have already been looking and doing research for who I want to work for. Right now, Maverick is number one. I want to get into temperature controlled, but flatbedding wouldn't be too bad either. I am in Cincinnati, so if I do flat bedding, based on where your location is, I might just end up with ya. Anyways, my question is about rider policy. I would like to take my wife on the road with me from day one after I get out of company training and I am assigned my own truck. Is that something Maverick allows you to do?
-
Helpful advice is not "infringing", trolling is. lol I appreciate any/all advice. so tyvm for your assistance.

Yes. With Maverick's rider policy on file and in hand. From day one however? Unless Maverick is going to deliver your truck to your front door, that'll be impossible. Inquire about it during orientation and through faxes, it can usually be taken care of within a couple of hours. Don't put your wife in the truck, pull into HQ and ask Bobby where you have to go to get a rider pass for her. lol.
