Here is my friend who runs in the RSW division answer to your question verbatum: "I've run TX, OK, KS, MO, AR, LA,TN, IL, and AL. Freight can be sheet rock, bar, pipe, coils, lumber. As far as hometime, I have only been hung out 2 times in 18 mos." He is a good dude, and loves his job with Maverick. Good luck!

...keep off the grass, slow is fast, ten under on exit ramps, ten minutes early is barely on time in NLR,...

I do not have a lap top aboard so my attempt at answering ur ?s in a different color was abandoned. Lol. I will however number my answers as you did your ?s........here goes.
1. Forgetting who they work for now...Maverick!, and reverting to how they used to do things at their past employers or copy catting the driver next to them at a shipper, even if the other driver does not work for Maverick! The "everyone else was doing it that way". Maverick has a 24,hour securement hotline........USE IT!!!
1.1. See answer 1. And sorting out the maverick way for the most part is dividing by 8.
1.2. In 6mos, hopefully you'll have developed a "system" a routine that allows you to work smarter, not harder and have figured out, you're going to make more $$$ for Maverick and yourself by taking advantage of the beginning august 1, 2013, PFP pay for performance bonus program.
2. Securing to maverick standards and be professional...ALWAYS!!!
3. Wouldn't call it weird. Prefer the term "safe". We wrap chains around bundles of steel that have no vertical blocking rather than throw straps over the load and haul arse.
4. Do YOUR job, let the technicians do theirs.
5. Your FM would tell you or you could ask them. We have little contact with CSRs when awaiting our nextoad.
5.1. You'd have to ask your FM or a CSR when you meet them.
5.2. See above answer.
6. Ask the shop that one. I treat people the way I want to be treated.
7. Qualcom OR phone---- qualcom messages have to be stored for 6mos and provides a written record. Phone calls leave too much room for error and forgetfullness due to whatever reason.
8.1. Dead weight-- knee pads and anything you insist on having with you but don't use the entire time you're aboard which is usually on the floor for us to trip over.
8.2. Shower shoes and sleeping bag.....year round
Thermal top and bottom..........winter time
9. I was a "newb" that went to orientation. I listened, took notes, did my homework, studied my notes, asked relevant questions, did what I was asked to do by orientation instructors and my driving instructor, and I still do the same today.
10. What I asked him to do.
11. Before training ride, they screw up in orientation. During training ride, they screw up in the trainer truck. After training ride, they screw up in the truck they are assigned.
12. Drivers not taking care of the equipment they are issued and passing their problems off to other drivers...ie bad tarps, rusty unlubed ratchet binders, and bad lights and or bad tires on trailers.
13. We're drivers, not mechanics. Maverick doesn't want us to "fix" our trucks. Company pays for "additional products" ie...oil, coolant, fuel additive when fueling.
14. 2 sets of pliers, and a leatherman Multi tool.
15. Ask a TCD driver, I haven't the foggiest.Ronin_on_MT and Drac1985 Thank this. -
Looking forward to the face-to-face. -
