At orientation: designated smoking areas. In the trainer's truck, its up to the instructor. Once you eval out and get your own truck, don't set the bunk on fire but its been issued to you and your expected to take care of it but can smoke anywhere you want in it, up front or in the sleeper.
Any Questions for a Driver Trainer for Maverick?

my rule is as long as the truck is moving, you can smoke inside the front of the truck as long as you crack the window to suck the smoke out your side. No smoking in the bunk. No throwing cig butts out the window, and any spills from your ashtray (bottle with water in it) you clean it up. I chew tobacco and wouldn't dare ask a student to clean up my spit so im not going to clean up a smoker's "Butt Water"

I am ready. Mr. Warren Scott told us things we had to ASK other recruiters, and they lost best student in the class. He was on point, as you are Sarge. All that is left is 3 weeks and a driving test. Got permit with all endorsements, and I mean all. I'll meet you soon sir, and will enjoy the challenges.

At least your fair about letting a smoker enjoy a ciggarette sarge. Not a whole lot of non smokers can tolerate the smoke.

OK...here's a big one for you Sarge. Hopefully I'm not reasking something that I overlooked in your previous posts. I went to CDL School back in 2007. Drove for a large van line for a bit, but quit (nothing negative, just had to be home for some issues), and took a "regular" job. Other than fire trucks and the like, I haven't driven a big truck since. I am very confident in most of my ability to drive and with a little bit of practice on the road I think I can pick it back up pretty quick, but I am concerned about my cornering and backing for the drivers test prior to being sent out with an instructor. Is this something I should be concerned about? Will Maverick can me on the spot for not passing a test or will I get another try? Other than getting tested on driving within the first couple weeks without having been behind the wheel for so long is really worrying me. I am not an incompetent driver, just VERY rusty. I want to get back on the road again, and feel Maverick is the best option for me, especially since I see so many Maverick trucks on the road here along I-79, but I don't want to waste my time and money with kids to feed and bills to pay. There is only 1 truck driving school around here and they have a 6 month waiting list on classes or I would try to get a refresher before heading out. What are your thoughts and experience?

Proper backing and cornering are essential to being successful at any job. Especially driving. Most people's biggest problem is themselves and their way of thinking. If I repeatedly tell myself, "I cannot back up.". Guess what.....I CAN'T. If I have a student in the truck that has problems backing I do what I can, when I can to get them to understand what they need to do in the cab to get the trailer to go where they want it to go.
BUT. Maverick is also looking for r.o.I.--return on investment. If I have tried all I can to teach someone the basic fundamentals of backing and they are just not getting it then I'm going to suggest they return to little rock to practice backing, under a controlled environment, not under time constraint of pick up or delivery schedules, etc.
Maverick is not a cdl school and shouldn't be treated as such.
On cornering, its important to remember that you do have a 48 or 53 foot long trailer that also has to clear the curb, light pole, stop sign, pedestrian at a bus stop, baby in A stroller whatever the obstacle may be that you would run over with your trailer if you don't allow for it. Each and every turn has to be analyzed BEFORE you begin to take it. Some you may be able to do so while stopped, ie. At a stop sign, others require a scan ahead of what needs to be done to safely negotiate a turn.
You mentioned you drove a van before. Back in 2007. That was the last time I rode a bicycle. I haven't forgotten how. Just may be a bit rusty at it for a bit of time. Not 5 weeks though -
