you can try to get out west, you will get there but it will take some work. and most of the time as soon as you unload they'll have another load taking you straight back to conover lol Every now and then you'll get lucky and get to play out west for a week or two before being dragged back to furniture "heaven" :biggrin_25517:

I stay out till I'm ready to run someone over then I call and say I want hometime next time i hit conover and they say sure no problem...that simple lol. But I think like want us to stay out 3 or 4 weeks at a time, but you;ll get to do plenty of 10 hour breaks and 34 hour resets at home if your good at running hard. I live 1.25 hours from conover and do quite a few 10 hour breaks there, it helps keep you on the road a little longer before wanting home time.

Well if the guys/gals here were paid for there enthusiasm and positive attitudes we would be well rewarded, the Conover drivers have the option of going west, I understand that if you get in a RED truck you are not limited to the east coast, they require you to stay out a minimum of 3 weeks before going home, different driverd stay out different lengths of time. Orientation is baptism by fire, if you are confident in your driving shifting and backing skills, then W/S is the place for you, they expect you to be ble to pilot an 80000 pound truck down with road with safety the utmost goal in all. We welcome you to the forum and to the family should you decide to come this way.

I know W&S has both Volvos and Freightliners. Dunno if anyone has either asked or posted but anyone got any details on either truck? Like sleeper size and maybe what each has option wise (radio type, maybe fridge, etc.). I've been in 3 Freightliners so far and they were all nice in their own way but I've never had the chance to get in a Volvo. I might have to look into that when I finish my classes and try to get up to Conover!

I know "our" (okay, I'm not in it yet) Freightliner currently has a radio with the ability to play MP3 CDs, but Joe put in the fridge himself. 'Shakers are, from what I've heard, bigger than the Volvos. Not much help, I know, but give me three more weeks. :biggrin_25526:

I think I'm sold on W&S. I mean, Prime does sound great, they really do, but I love a good challenge and W&S sounds like a great one! I wonder if I can easily use my iPod in the truck. That's like a big but... not so big thing for me. :biggrin_2559:

I know I don't get paid for positive posts as I don't work there anymore. If I still wanted to do OTR I would still be there. That said, I will still recommend any person there that thinks they have what it takes to do the "no trainer" gig. They are just a great place to work and it's like a family there. Everybody I ever met there is always happy to help in whatever way they could.

My radio in my truck had an AUX port, so I listened to my iPod until I installed my XM. They are pretty good about replacing a radio if you need the AUX. I didn't have any problems with it there....but that was a year ago

Good luck to both of you in whatever choice you make....

That sounds like a pretty great deal to me. I enjoy listening to music while I drive and have been fed up with using my little FM transmitter thing in my car. I know the radio shouldn't be a "make or break" thing when it comes to choosing a company but I was just a little curious. Thanks for the reply!
